PICTOU COUNTY ATHLETICS Run Jump Throw Wheel program for interested athletes aged 4-8 will be beginning Thursday April 29th at NGA from 6-7pm. This session will be 8 weeks long and end on June 17th. Track and Field is back for the summer! Registration starting Thursday, June 25 from 4 pm to 7pm and Monday June 29th 4:30 to 6:30 for all interested. We have programs available for all ages including:... Run, Jump, Throw, Wheel (ages 5-8): - A final registration starting at 9:00am June 30th - Starting date: Tuesday, June 30th at 9:30am- 10:15am - Fee: $45 for 7 weeks Trailblazers (age 9-12): - Practices starting Monday June 29th and Wednesdays from 5:15-6:15pm - Fee: $75 for 7 weeks 13+ group: - Practices starting Monday June 29th and Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm - Fee: $75 for 7 weeks *New this year U35 group: - Practices starting Monday June 29th and Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm - Fee: $75 for 7 weeks Masters (35+): - Practices starting Monday June 29th and Wednesdays from 6:30-8pm - Fee: $75 for 7 weeks COVID-19 Rules in effect: No greater than 10 in a group, social distancing is required (2m apart), hand sanitizing will be available, no sharing of equipment, and bathrooms cleaned frequently
Consistently outrunning competitors up to three years her senior, Cara MacDonald of Athletics NS has emerged one of Atlantic Canada's rising stars, and one of t...he country’s top athletes in her age group. Representing Pictou County Athletics at the 2017 Royal Canadian Legion- National Youth Track and Field Championships, Cara was the only 2005 birth there, the youngest among all competitors she nonetheless raced past five competitors and placed 13th. Still in the lower end of her age category two years later, Cara recorded two 6th place finishes at the 2019 Legion Championships while representing Team Nova Scotia on home soil. We discussed her national U20 indoor relay record, training towards an outdoor season that remains uncertain, the prospect of contesting longer track distances, and much more!
