Today is soil health day on the farm. I'm trying out some products that I've never used before. First photo is a picture of product called black earth, basically it's full of really good micro nutrients to compliment the chicken manure we spread a few weeks ago. Next two photos are foliar sprays. Again, I've never used molasses or fish fertilizer and to be honest I'm not looking forward to the smell when I go to mix it. However, they say it helps break down spores of diseases... that like to overwinter in the twigs and rotten apples on the ground and tree. If it does help eliminate those pesky problems that means there won't be as much disease pressure in the spring which decrease the amount chemicals I have to spray to get it under control. We're slowly trying out more organic products on the farm which is exciting.
