One of the families that we work with, specialize in building furniture using antique Teak wood, reclaimed from very old buildings, farmhouses, boats etc. Old growth Teak was previously used as building materials, but nowadays, old growth forests are protected and cannot be cut down. Today, most Teak furniture is made with plantation Teak which is 20-40 years old! -This outdoor furniture set was built using approximately 300 year old Teak Railway ties. -in 1865, under Dutch r...ule, the first railway line was built in Java, Indonesia, and old growth Teak was used to make these railway ties. -In recent times, this rail line has been replaced using newer materials, but created a supply of stunning antique lumber. Our friends secured a supply of this material and have been creating beautiful, rare pieces of furniture. -unfortunately, due to it’s desirability, it is becoming extremely harder to secure more of this wood #reclaimedwood #reclaimedwoodfurniture #recycled #teakfurniture #teakwood #unique #fairtrade #edmontonfairtrade #edmonton #londonderrymall #popupshop #artisan #artisanmade #furniture #furnituewithasoul #oneofakind See more

We would like to say Thank You to all of you who donated during these difficult times, to help us support our COVID Relief fundraiser for our Artisans in Bali Due to this global pandemic, Bali has suffered a massive drop in tourism, which accounts for a large portion of their economy. This is the hardest hit region in all of Indonesia. With no government help, the good people that we work with have been in need of assistance. With your help, we’ve managed to raise $1600 t...o fund a second round of food aid. We’ve put together 110 packages in a couple different sizes according to the size of households. The largest package will be enough to feed a family of 4-6 for two weeks. Packages include: 5kg/10kg rice 2L/4/L oil 1/2kg soy beans 1/2kg peanuts 1/2 Soya sauce Packs of noodles 1kg sugar Coffee, Tea Eggs -items are used adding vegetables for a complete meal. ****Shout out to Wayan, Penny, Cody, Nengah, Putu and everyone else who helped source out items, sort packages and deliver to the families. Our GOFUNDME page is still accepting donations to help us with a 3rd round of aid. https://www.gofundme.com/f/6yrc7d-covid-relief Thank You
