These two brothers came up for a bear hunt in 2018 and tagged out on night's 1 and 2. They're also die hard walleye fisherman. They caught more walleye than I could believe, them included. So guess what? They came back in 2019 for 12 DAYS of fishing and fished strictly walleye for 10 days and caught over 1300 walleye each. Where do I start. I made the call the pass up this bear on the first night of the hunt. I had no history with him and knew we had other big bears so I made the decision to hold out. What a mistake that was, not knowing there was a sow with 3 chocolate colored cubs. In the end he got 2 of the cubs but mama put up one heck of a fight by the looks of the fresh scars on his face. Johns shot was not perfect we backed out went to camp for a quick bite and to grab a couple extra se...ts of eyes. About 3 hours into a very thin blood trail this bear ambushed us as his last defense. Of course the first round in shotgun was a dud and the second was on the run. After John ripped a shot into the side of his skull and turned him, 2 more arrows later he expired with half his body in the river. My words will never be able to do this story justice but the memories will last forever. Cree River Lodge

First bear on my first ever #berta bait. I've always guided every spring for the last 8 years in various lodges across northern Saskatchewan. This would have been my 4th season at Cree River Lodge and although I'm not crusing rivers or lakes looking for booner's, I am looking forward to teaching a couple of buddy's the ropes. #pierceoutfitting #creeriverlodge
