I find that one of the most important aspects in your Pilates practice is to Thank yourself for your work. Gratitude and recognition of your own achievements add huge value to your success and goal achievements. Very often, I am asked "how can I stay motivated and stay on track?" You need to have a goal aligned in order to keep the motivation going. It is just as important to have goals but also celebrate the milestones along the way. If you are not doing it already, start th...e gratitude today and it will help you stay focused. Today, I would like to thank you all for the support, motivation and pushing me to be a better instructor, mentor and educator. I am also infinitely Grateful to all of you and to the universe for giving PEONYX the goal and the motivation to keep giving. -Anya, Peonyx Owner Photo: @pogalova.evgenia #thankyou #pilatesgratitude #peonyx #pilatestoronto #clientgratitude #thanksgiving #gratitude #pilatesforwomen #thankfultohaveyou

Where do you draw your inspiration from? I must confess, the last few months have been very shy on inspiration for me. I would like to share a personal experience from yesterday, which made some movement happen: ... Pilates is a fine art of movement in which you can spend an hour just trying to move a few vertebrates. Often, it can be very hard to notice for yourself if there is a blockage in your spine, and a Pilates professional can help you with that. Yesterday, I experienced an extremely therapeutic movement session with Allison Kares @allisonkareseducation @movementunlimitedinc. The detail and the precision not only made my physical movement possible but also allowed me to take in a breath of fresh air for the first time in months. It allowed me to really open up my lungs, improve my posture and enrich my mood. Most importantly, it reminded me that Pilates can be a game CHANGER and even one class gave me more inspiration that I had in months. Right now more than ever, we need inspiration, strength, belief in ourselves. If you have never tried Pilates, the right place and time could be a game changer for you! Please share your thoughts and your experience with Pilates or any other movement practices. -Anya, Peonyx Owner Photo: @pogalova.evgenia #pilatesgamechanger #pilatesisanart #theartofpilates #moveyourspine #spinalarticulation #pilatesbreath #pilatesinpiration #inspireyourself #inpiringteachers #beinspired #moveandbreathe #richmondhillpilates #pilatesmentor #polestarpilates #iampolestar #polestatcanada #polestarontario

L a y e r s Just like a flower has layers of petals that slowly fold back and open, so you too have layers of another kind. Our goal is to use movement to help you peel back layers of yourself - mentally, physically, even possibly spiritually - to help you discover deeper potential and possibilities.... Every individual is unique and everyone has something different to discover in their bodies. The beauty of Pilates is that it can help us unwrap ourselves and help us to feel sensations and movements we’ve never felt or never thought we could feel. If this sounds like a journey you’d like to go on, reach out to us! Pilates is great exercise, but it’s also so much more! MONDAY MAT - Full FREE Workout Link in our Bio! | Cardio | There are many different types of high intensity interval training. Different intervals, different levels and different lengths of workouts. In this video we offer you to try a 12-minute workout with 50 seconds work and 10 second rest. 4 exercises to be repeated three times through. If you are away somewhere, four exercises are very easy to remember. All you need is to download any free app on your mobile device wit...h the interval timer. When 12 minutes is not enough, you can repeat the same routine two or three times through. There are not a lot of cardio moves in Pilates and it is important to engage the cardio vascular system from time to time. For some it could be running, for others it is speed walking or biking. It could also be playing a dynamic sport game; hocky, soccer, football, etc. Some of the benefits of a cardio workout is that it burns calories faster, it also strengthens the muscles, helps with controlling your appetite (you are not hungry right after the workout), it releases endorphins which boost your mood, and when you are tired after a cardio workout it helps you sleep better at night. Think of children who sleep much better, when they released their energy during the day. We offer you the high intensity interval training is because it is short and effective, plus it is a perfect complement to any workout! If you like the workout, leave comment, put likes and follows us for more exciting and easy to follow flows. DO YOU PLAN YOUR WORKOUT? What works for you? If you do your own workouts during the week, do you plan what you are going to do BEFORE you dive into exercising? Or do you feel it out as you go? We think there are pros and cons to both approaches. Here’s some thoughts to consider for each approach:... PLANNING AHEAD: If you plan ahead it can be easier to map out GOALS for yourself. For example, if your goal is to be able to eventually do 10 good pushups, you can map out HOW you will reach this goal by planning your sessions ahead of time. Create building blocks to get you to the goal. FEELING IT OUT: If you’re someone who likes to decide what you’re going to do for exercise as you go, this can be a great way to make the session feel really CREATIVE and ORGANIC. To be realistic, every day is different and our bodies need different things each day. Feeling out your exercise session as you go can be a really nice way to just listen to your body and give it way it needs. BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: We think combining these two approaches is a nice way to go. While it’s so useful to set goals and work productivity towards them, it’s also nice to have the freedom to move how your body wants on any particular day. We suggest creating a FLEXIBLE PLAN. 1. Have your goals set 2. Have a handful of exercises that will be useful for reaching your goals. But you can pick and choose what you want to do that day. 3. Enjoy throwing in variations of the same exercises to keep things creative. 4. Have a handful of exercises in mind that you know you just LOVE, even if they don’t relate to your goal directly. Gotta let yourself do what you love too. And if your session doesn’t end up being at all like you wanted or planned??? Be kind to yourself and thank yourself for the movement that you did give your body! Share your thoughts with us and follow us for more little tips and suggestions on mindset and exercise! #pilatesmindset #exerciseplanning #homeexerciseplan #organicexercise #peonyxstudio #torontopilatestips #torontofitnesstips

I wanted to say Hello and Welcome to our new followers! For those who don’t know me, my name is Anya and I am the founder and owner of PEONYX. Very often, I get asked why I chose Pilates? There is no short answer to this question but I will try to tell you a little bit about myself and how Pilates changed my life. I moved from Russia to Canada when I was thirteen years old and I already knew that I wanted to do something in life which would help people. I graduated from... Ryerson University with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. After more than 10 years working in the pharmaceutical industry in both Canada and the US, I realized that I had not fulfilled my dream yet. By this time however, I had practiced reflexology, meditation, aromatherapy, yoga and Pilates. I began to notice that after Pilates classes, everyday life was more enjoyable, I achieved better results and had a lot more energy to participate in different activities. I am proud to say that I am a Polestar Pilates Studio Practitioner! Polestar training uses gentle yet challenging moves that transform your body into much more than just being fit. Polestar Pilates focused on whole body wellness. Polestar Pilates mission is to shape world health by making whole body fitness available to everyone, with science-based techniques, intelligent movement and the uniform development of muscles, resulting in complete mastery of body and mind. My goal for clients is to have them walk out from a class feeling like they had a great work out, at the same time feeling relaxed as if I had a full body massage, AND feeling tranquil and peaceful, as after meditation. My medical background and experience working with people is a perfect supplement to my Pilates practice. It allows me to reach amazing results in my own practice and with my clients. It’s reassuring and rewarding to hear how people’s lives have changed after Pilates. I get inspired by the fact that I help people. Now I know I am on the right path. LIVE IN MOTION! MONDAY MAT - Full Link in Bio | Pilates on Reformer | Some of you may have a reformer at home and, as much as it is easy to use, proper guidance is required. You may want to consider putting a mirror in front of yourself in order to see proper form. This is an introductory flow intended for beginners and anyone with no major health issues. ... Reformers were originally designed by Joseph Pilates for Rehabilitation purposes. It could serve as a supporting mechanism OR a strengthening tool, depending on the target. For example, some of you may not be able to perform a role-over on a mat, but, with the assistance of the springs you will be able to do it with ease. Eventually you can progress towards decreasing tension and learning how to use the internal muscles to perform the movement. The machine is so smart that it gives instant feedback if you are performing the movements correctly. You will be able to do a full body workout with this machine and variety of exercises is so reach, you would never get bored. Once you will do this flow, you will be asking for more. Give us likes and comments! Follow us for more exciting/new flows. FOOD RULES? There are SO many different opinions and resources that are telling you HOW you should diet and what you should and should not eat. It can be overwhelming and contradictory, especially in the fitness world. Here’s our thoughts. Plain & simple. ... FOOD IS FUEL. Eat the food that will fuel your body for the day. Every day is different and every body is different. Find what works for you! ENJOY YOUR FOOD! Why waste time eating something you don’t like? There is so much variety and so many different nutrient dense foods. Find what you LOVE EATING. NO SHAME! If you are personally trying to avoid certain foods like desserts, or if fried foods are your weakness, let yourself enjoy those things once in a while! And instead of calling it a CHEAT DAY, call it a TREAT DAY. Love yourself, don’t shame yourself. FOOD IS GREAT! Make your relationship with food about what you can GIVE to your body, not about what you have to RESTRICT. It’s about bringing nutrition into your body and it’s about enjoying the tastes, textures, and flavors. YOU ARE UNIQUE. Everyone needs something different. Listen to your needs and your wants! Don’t waste time comparing to anyone else. Cheers to YOU! #foodisfuelandpleasure #positivefoodrelationship #nutrientdensediet #noselfshame #pilatesfoodie #torontopilatesteacher #pilatesstudiotoronto
