Headed to the Pool or Arena in the near future? Be sure to mask up!
The centre will be closed tomorrow in lieu of Remembrance Day. Thank you to all Canadians who have served our country
Sending out kudos to this amazing team! For the last six months during the pandemic our team has been providing care for the children in our community. What began in late April as Essential Care has evolved into so much more. In these past six months, we have moved into our new location as well as had to adjust to many Covid related changes that ultimately have changed our routine and "normal" time and time again. ... However one thing remained, their willingness to show up for our children and families EVERY SINGLE DAY. Thankful for this team, today and everyday! --Stephanie
A BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Steph! Thank you for all you do, happy happy day!
Out of School Care parents: have you had a look at the St.Michael's School of Pincher Creek calendar for the school year? Our PD Days and OSC Schedule are made in collaboration with the school calendar as well as bell schedule. More details will be shared on the St.Michel's page in the coming weeks regarding the ins and outs of school this year.
When was the last time you enjoyed a nap outside? There are many benefits, including longer and deeper sleep but more importantly an increase in immunity as the body is exposed to a variety of germs and learns to produce vital antibodies. Napping outside also allows the nervous system to receive sensory stimuli (sounds, lights, sensations of wind, warmth of the sun) that are beneficial to cognitive and physical development. We are grateful for cooperative weather and being able to offer this to our children. I mean who wouldn't want to catch some outside!
Have you done yours yet?

Today is Anna's One Year Anniversary with PCCELC! I have to say, watching Anna grow into her role as an educator has been truly inspiring. She has fully embraced our philosophy, and found ways to put her own spin it, putting the children and their interests first always. She is gentle, kind and passionate. The children absolutely adore her, and to be honest so do we Here's to one year!! And many more to follow! Thank you Anna... -Stephanie
Nurseries without toys ? The question has been asked But what do children play with? At Curiosity Approach settings we don’t use or purchase plastic manufact...ured toys, these are replaced by an array of loose parts and opened resources. We use recycled materials, authentic resources & children see endless possibilities in them all. The plastic garage, transporter or roadway are replaced by the imagination, Creativity and design. Children have the freedom to play beyond the constraints of a road mat or fixed plastic resource. We step beyond traditional norms of brightly coloured nurseries and settings & follow a natural approach which places the child at the centre of everything we do! Play becomes fluid and ever evolving and the loose parts become whatever their heart & mind desires. At Curiosity Approach settings we ensure there is a richness to children’s play spaces, allowing children to think and make connections, to fuel their curiosity & ignite a desire to learn, problem solve and play. Researcher suggests that when an object or environment is OPEN to many interpretations and uses, children hold the POWER to tell it what it is to be or do in lieu of being given one preconceived ‘correct’ way to view something. Talbot and Frost. cited in Hohmann & Weikart, 1995, p. 111). Do you want to learn more about loose parts & how you can bring them into children’s play? Then read the document attached below. We have also attached a resource you can purchase and display in your Early Childhood setting. https://www.thecuriosityapproach.com/c/issue-01-loose-parts https://www.inspiringscotland.org.uk//Loose-Parts-Play-web #planet #recycle #donate #looseparts #play #creativity #sustainability #architects #earlychildhood #imagination

See where behavior is? It’s my job to work on the roots so that the leaves and branches grow. I work from a sensory foundation to help behaviour, cognition, attention, academics, social skills, language,....
"When you hold an infant, hold him not just with your body, but with your mind and heart." Magda Gerber The Most Important Early Childhood Regulation for The U...nder Threes Co-regulation - connecting with others. It is the ability of the Care Giver to tune in and interpret what their baby’s physical and emotional needs are in the moment, and to respond in a way that connects with baby, allowing the baby’s overloaded immature brain to get back to a calmer state. The baby is counting on this, particularly in their first three years when their brain is 'under construction'. from 'Grobrain'
Things are getting pretty exciting around here!
