Valentine's Day celebrations! Resident's could purchase flowers and candy grams for their friends and made Valentine's to hand out. In the afternoon, they received a special delivery of homemade cards from the children at North Addington Child Care Centre as well as the grade 6/7 class while indulging in some wine & treats! Staff were treated as well, with lunch/dinner and dessert from a generous family member and resident! At dinner, a resident couple enjoyed a romantic, private Valentine's dinner together catered by Pine Meadow staff!
Winter Olympics are well underway at Pine Meadow! We are keeping a daily count of our Canadian medals along with a few other countries too. Residents have been watching many of the competitions on television as well as competing in some of their own sports. This game of Olympic Noodle Hockey seen in the photos was a blast!
This past month we have introduced a new program to the residents called "Pedal around the World". The residents get to choose which countryside they would like to see on the screen then they get to virtually tour that place while pedaling along as if out for a ride. This program has sparked great conversations of past vacations or places lived throughout their lives while getting some exercise at the same time! This program has quickly become a favorite for many!
Some pictures of special visitors we received, resident's enjoying the lights at night and of some resident's showing off their beautiful corsages donated from the very talented "Land O Lakes Garden Club! We would like to say Thank You for all of the lovely gifts and treats delivered this month for the staff and the residents! We appreciate all that this Community does to show they care!

Resident’s and Staff received some cuddly surprises from our friends down the road at the Explorer’s Eco-Emporium 41! What a thoughtful way to spread some holiday cheer! A big Thank You from Pine Meadow!
Pine Meadow residents and staff enjoyed their choice of fresh coffee, tea, donuts and muffins today at our very own "Tim Horton's Drive Through"! A very big heartfelt thank you goes out to Tim Horton's of Madoc for partnering with us to make this program so special, as well as for their incredibly generous donation of the entire selection of goodies offered! It was smiles all around our home today! #TimHortonsMadoc
The ladies enjoyed an elegant travelling tea party to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday!
Dear Family Member/Substitute Decision Maker: RE: SUPPORTING SAFE CONNECTIONS ON MOTHER’S DAY As we approach the second Mother’s Day in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we appreciate your patience and understanding as long-term care homes across the country continue to navigate these unprecedented times. Pine Meadow understands how important it is for families to connect with their loved ones on a special holiday like this - one with a history of memories and personal ex...periences that each family holds dear. At this time, due to province specific directives based on spread of COVID-19 in the KFL&A community, provincial restrictions to visitation remain in place. Gifts will be accepted if they are pre-wrapped. Candy/chocolate must be store bought. All other kinds of gifts, clothing, personal care products are discouraged. We are recommending that flowers be purchased and delivered by the florist directly to the home/community. At this time, no external deliveries are to be brought inside the home/community by those dropping them off. All gifts must be dropped off at the front door of the home/community and a staff member will bring it into the home/community and deliver the gift. We are also committed to making this day special for our residents by organizing a Mother’s Day celebration at our home. Activities will include a Travelling Mother’s Day Tea Party! If you want more details about our Mother’s Day program, please reach out to Sarah Thompson at ext. 226 or [email protected] Thank you for being a partner with us as we continue to fight COVID-19. We thank you for your continued patience and support during this difficult time, and are optimistic about the path of recovery ahead for our home/community, that is now more within our reach than ever If you have any questions, you can reach me at [email protected] or at ext.222 Margaret Palimaka 613-336-9120 x 222
