The Bruce Beach Cottagers' Association, Point Clark Beach Association and the Lurgan Beach/Blair's Grove Association have provided generous donations to PRWIN. Our committee is grateful for their continued support of our projects. We are a not-for-profit charity, and always welcome assistance from any business, association, or member of our community.

PRWIN directors and community volunteers delivered trees for our 2020 Potted Tree Ash Replacement Program. We had 30 recipients receive a tree. We appreciate our directors time, organization and delivery of the trees to our shoreline residence. A special thank you to Smeltzer's Garden Centre for ordering the trees and to NWMO and the Community Well Being Program for supporting our fall tree program.

World Record Waterspout Outbreak! The highest number of waterspouts / funnels ever recorded took place recently over the Great Lakes during a 7-day period from ...September 28 to October 4. We have confirmed an unbelievable 240 waterspouts / funnels during this period (Note: We have confirmed more reports since the original post and have updated the total). This breaks the old record of 88 spouts that took place from August 16-18, 2020. The events from this recent outbreak were reported over every Great Lake, with the majority occurring over Lake Erie. There were several reasons for the cause of this historic event: 1. A continual flow of arctic air over the relatively warm waters of the Great Lakes (meteorologists call this, "A pipeline to the Arctic") causing instability and ideal conditions for waterspout development. 2. Coordination with storm chasers, the media and forecast offices who reported sightings on social media. 3. Availability of our waterspout forecast maps to give advance notice and focus in on probable waterspout hot spots: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFNKN-c3eBxsMgbUVX03TaQ Highlights from the event were: i) 1-day record of 82 waterspouts on October 1 ii) 38 spouts seen by an observer in one day (David Piano) iii) A family of 5 waterspouts occurring at the same time iv) Some waterspouts moved onshore (no damage) We would like to thank all waterspout observers and the media for sending the ICWR their waterspout reports. This helped contribute to the confirmation of this historic event! Note: The place marks on the map below represent single or multiple waterspouts / funnels. Send us your reports to help improve the waterspout forecast model

The water level of Lake Huron is expected to remain high throughout the fall. Strong northwest winds from fall and winter storms combined with the high water level may cause flooding and erosion problems.
