A Big Brown Bat (seriously, that's what it's called) was very actively flying around hunting for insects late afternoon Sunday, outside of Sarnia. Thanks Allana...h for the photo. She says: "I originally thought this was an Eastern Red Bat as they are more likely to be diurnal, but I posted it on iNaturalist and was quickly schooled by a conservation biologist who is a bat expert. Apparently, Big Brown bats have pointy ears, while Eastern Reds have rounded ears, and because of it's wide muzzle and relatively hairless face, long fur and tail structure, among other things.
