Some have been lucky enough to follow through with their dates and plans, others not as much. I'm trying to look on the positive side; we'll all get there eventually, and when we do, it'll be so much more meaningful because we know how many obstacles had to be surpassed. As I watch this year come to an end, I'm looking back at just how insanely eventful it has been. Unfortunately not with events themselves, but with the many changes we have all undergone with our lives. Many have spent the past months adjusting their at home lives to now accomodate working from home, managing a household, all while teaching and babysitting kids. Some have lost their jobs altogether and are trying to find new purpose in their lives. Coping with the pandemic de...finitely isn't easy for most people. During this time of year especially, it can be even harder for some. Now more than ever it's important to support one another whether it be just saying "hello, how are you?", sharing a small business' page, wishing someone Happy Holidays or just smiling as you walk by someone at the dog park. So excited to finally share some set up photos from our wedding! As you may already know, covid affected my original wedding plans, causing us to postpone our date (by a few weeks) and completely change our decor and colour scheme to fit the new venue and accommodate the new smaller guest count. As much as I would have loved to showcase my dark and moody romantic vision that I've been planning for 2+ years, I still love how the last minute changes worked out! (And who knows, ...maybe I'll get bored and throw together a mock up of what it could have been!) Our day was quickly becoming lost amongst a fast changing world wrapped up in a pandemic. The horrible thought of our carefully planned wedding not happening was becoming a reality. I was glued to the tv every afternoon hoping one of the daily government announcements would have positive news. Eventually we made the decision to postpone our wedding, but only by a few weeks to buy us some time. Our new date came and although our reception plans had to completely change, we mad...e the most of it! Our wedding was beautiful, intimate and so so special! We loved every part of it! Apologies for any ignored emails, calls, and texts; WE GOT MARRIED! I'll be responding to everyone within the next two days! Thank you all for your patience and well wishes! ... Our wedding day was far from what was planned the last two years. I had to let go of the decor vision, the evening fireworks over the lake, the epic dessert & candy station, the many international family members that could no longer attend, and much more. That being said, our day was still incredible! We couldn't have imagined being able to have that much fun even with all the "covid restrictions". WHAT WE DID: A waterfront ceremony at the beautiful @liuna_gardens in Stoney Creek. Kept our guests entertained during family photos with a photobooth by @event_booth featuring their boxwood backdrop and @vintagebash's Lauren Blush & Gold Velvet Settee and @drawmecesar offering amazing and quick caricatures drawn straight from his iPad and printed in colour (avoiding pencil smudges on paper). Our "cocktail hour" wasn't allowed food/drinks to be served, instead we used that time to have our family and group photos taken by @merlotstudios We had our first dance (just us two) in the ballroom with no one watching except our vendors: @ojthedj , {Violinist: Paul Barna} @vivianlyttle , @merlotstudios , @w2weddingfilms , @sparktacularevents @ohsnapboothh [MAX 10 people allowed] **video to come soon!! Our Reception: a four course dinner and drinks held at @thejudgeandjester patio in Grimsby for our 44 family members and a select few closest friends, with linen, chair & tableware rentals from @special_event_rentals A @spotify playlist made by @callsacha played on speakers & equipment rented from @longandmcquade All in all, an amazing night. We had tons of compliments from our guests about it being the most fun wedding they've attended (even pre-covid!). And yes... we got rained on during our patio reception...but it was great! 2020 has been a horrible year to say the least. The world has endured one insane disaster after another and we are only in June! In my mind, this was going to be a great year; a fresh start to a new decade and a summer filled with weddings including my own wedding! Unfortunately many of us didn't get to see our months/years of planning unfold, we were robbed of the experience that so many others have had the opportunity to enjoy. However, we're still here!... I always remind myself to look on the positive side of things, no matter how negative they can seem. I surround myself with couples getting married because there is absolutely nothing that brings me more joy than being around so much love . My job isn't a job, it's my passion. To every bride, groom, bridesmaid, groomsman, parent, sibling and grandparent that has reached out during these past few months to ask questions, vent, or get some advice; THANK YOU! You've helped me get through this by trusting me. I know first hand what it is like to be a "Covid Bride", I feel for all my couples this year who have/are experiencing the difficulties. As much as this all totally sucks, we have to remember "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" ~ J.K. It's still happening we still aren't through this chaotic 2020. To all my brides and grooms, you're not in this alone. You have support! We are in such an unpredictable and uncertain time. The stress levels have risen outrageously and there is nothing we can do about it.
