Amy Lafontaine - your pies are ready to pick up either tonight or tomorrow :)
well, been busy last couple of days working with dog salmon and getting it prepared for the smoke house, first it was hung as slabs but as it should have been hung differently so it gone done today. much better use of our area in the smoke house as a guest.
well, last week was very busy time - lots of work on some mats that were due for a client, yay! and garden work, picking berries and language classes each day. so lots happening again this week as for each weekday there is a class, either for our Fluent Speakers or for us learners. I am so excited about this class as it is intensive and carries on through til sometime in March so I feel by that time I should be able to hold a basic conversation in our hisqii language. EXCITING!! Happy Crafting Everyone!!`
Whew! well, it could have started more smoothly but all in all it was a good teaching event! I was not as prepared as I needed to be but was able to process bark as we went along. some did not have a chance to make what they wanted but compromised with other smaller items,so quite embarrassing for me. well, next time will be super prepared and will have lots of bark ready. and we have an agreement to go to a home and teach someone weaving so am happy about that. many did go home with finished baskets, roses, ropes so all around it was an amazing day! onward and forward. Happy Crafting Everyone!!
Hello Folks! just wanted to let everyone know that we are still able to hold small workshops for teaching cedar bark weaving. we would be wearing face masks for the duration and by keeping the groups small we can help maintain the distance rules of today. please contact us for further details of availability and times and we can discuss the projects you are interested in. We Love working with Nations to help all learn these weaving skills in the medium of cedar bark, projects vary from roses, baskets of small to medium sizes and both round and squared. we also teach how to process cedar bark for usage and how to make anything from rope to hats. :)
