World War Two veteran and Revera resident Pvt. Bernie Prevost got the thrill of a lifetime when the team at Maplecrest Retirement Residence in Grimsby, ON surpr...ised him with a ride on the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's Lancaster bomber for his 96th birthday. Mr. Prevost would go to his balcony whenever the Lancaster would fly overhead and the team at Maplecrest thought it would be a great treat if they could arrange a flight for him for his birthday. Mr. Prevost was a Private with the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders and landed on Juno Beach on D-Day. He was wounded on D-Day and was subsequently sent back to England for hospitalization and rehabilitation. After his recovery, he continued to serve as a military driver in Engalnd until completion of his service in 1946 when he returned to Canada.
