A long time ago I had the pleasure of working with a client of mine on the approval of this cottage on Tobin Island on Lake Rosseau. Never before had I seen such a sympathetic approach to cottage design, starting with a topographical survey that picked up every tree on the property, with the architect's design that worked with every aspect of the land, through to the builder, Darcy Sheppard, who meticulously implemented that design. This cottage is large, yet blends in perfe...ctly with nature, leading me to believe that it isn't the amount of coverage, height restrictions, setbacks, and other zoning regulations that balances built form with nature, but simply good design and a dedicated landowner and builder. Hideaways Magazine featured this cottage in an article, which you can find at the link below.
