Sam says Canadians won’t appreciate my Pennsylvania specific Philly cheesesteak jokes, all I’ll say is PHILLY CHEESESTEAK FRIESDAY. Housemade chickpea steak, grilled peppers and onions, and cheddar cheese sauce on a bed of crispy shoestring fries. Gritty approved. (Sorry.)
About once a month someone asks me to make a walnut crunch. As someone who came to Tim Horton’s later in life, I wasn’t familiar. Luckily there’s a Facebook fan page dutifully updated through 2016 with statuses such as NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY!! RIP WALNUT CRUNCH where I could see pictures. Come try our take on the walnut crunch and when you’re through, go like the Facebook page honouring a legend.
Caesar Salad Our Caesar Salad is a mix of kale, spinach, and red leaf lettuce with Caesar dressing, cucumber, red onion, crispy chickpea fritters, capers, and walnut parm. Add rice paper bacon for an extra savoury crunch!
We’re gearing up for the patio season we’re oh so close to and bringing a few people onto the team. Both positions include an hourly wage + tips and are eligible for benefits. Please send your resume and a cover letter to plantedinhamont [at] gmail . com

Hi Planted fam, As Hamilton moves into the Red Zone this week, we’ll be closing dine in service for now. We didn’t come to this decision lightly but even though public health recommendations are a bit contradictory (indoor dining for ten is still allowed! but don’t leave home except for essentials!) our priority is the health of our team and guests. We’re going to do our best to keep things as normal as possible: Kitchen hours will stay the same (including Sunday brunch!) ...for as long as it’s feasible. We remain open for walk ins if you prefer to order in person or want to grab some pastries. We have something v cool coming next week that will bring daily specials delivered to your door! We’re also launching winter holiday kits soon. Thanks for bearing with us during these truly unprecedented times. Stay safe, stay healthy, and we hope to have you in person again as soon as it’s practical.
Holidays just aren’t the same this year! We’ve heard from a lot of you think you’re missing our holiday cookie decorating parties. We are too, so until it’s safe to gather again consider bringing the cookie decorating home. Our take home cookie decorating kit is vegan, gluten free, nut free, and includes: 6 spooky sugar cookies, 3 bags of icing, and 3 colours of sprinkles. They’re available until Halloween! Order yours at plantedin.ca/bakery.
Chef Sam, as he’s known around here, is in his mid-thirties but I like to tease him about his elderly alter ego I call Shmuel. Shmuel looks at Instagram on his desktop computer, doesn’t like to text, prefers poppyseed hamentashen, and his ideal cookie is loaded with dried fruit. These yeast donuts, lemon pistachio and apricot filled w/ vanilla glaze and toasted pistachios, are for Shmuel.
Look, is this a very liberal definition of fries? Sure, but you won’t hold that against us once you try this week’s Friesday special. It’s dippable French toast sticks topped with icing sugar and served with a maple pear sauce. Get ‘em from 11:30-8:00 on Friesday!
For all you pumpkin lovers out there: Pumpkin Curry Fries! A pile of fries topped with pumpkin coconut curry with tofu, onion, bell pepper, and spinach, garnished with roasted pumpkin seeds and cilantro. Available only on Friesday!
Here’s just a few of the options in our pastry case today: Maple pecan blondies, monkey bread, brookies, and strawberry cake donuts. We’re open until 8:00 for dine in, carry out, and delivery.
Y’all, these are crazy times. There’s been a flurry of activity across multiple platforms leaving us negative reviews regarding our mask policy. Since we’ve only had one conflict regarding this, it all seems to stem from that one interaction but the internet is an unforgiving place and people who have never entered a restaurant can still leave it a one star review predicting and wishing for your failure. Here’s the deal: anyone over 2 who enters the restaurant must be wearing... a mask. If you’re unable to wear a mask we offer curbside pickup and are on two delivery apps. We are more than willing to work with you if there’s any potential accommodation we can make to serve you safely. Please reach out in advance via message, email, or phone and we’ll do our best. While we understand that this policy is inconvenient for some, we hope we are doing our part to keep everyone safe ESPECIALLY those for whom contracting COVID would have devastating consequences. People can accuse us of discrimination all they want, but when these reviews are coming from Facebook accounts calling out sheeple for falling for the hoax that is COVID, it feels like you have an agenda other than advocating for accommodations for those with disabilities. Anyway, this sucks, 2020 is tough, and six months into a pandemic isn’t a fun time to have internet strangers wish for your failure. In honour of the reviewer who, without ever visiting, was able to ascertain that our food is basically dog food and to bring a little happiness we’re hosting a virtual dog food drive. Donate to a local animal rescue (any amount! You can even black it out.) Send us a screenshot of your donation receipt and we’ll send you a $10 e-gift card that you can use to order pickup or (safely) dine in. Email receipts to plantedinhamont[at]gmail.com. Thanks, Planted family.

One of my top nostalgia meals is grilled cheese and soup. Our soup this week is a fall-inspired pumpkin soup. Try it as a side with any sandwich, or a big bowl as an entree!
Happyyyyyy Friesday! This week we’re serving Mango Teriyaki Chick’n Fries: a double portion of crispy fries topped with fresh mango salsa, teriyaki chickpea fritters, and toasted sesame seeds. Available only on Friesday from 11:30-8:00!
