Excited to let you guys all know that I am switching gears a little in the future :-) Currently, I am working my way through a Puppy Start Right Instructor program through Karen Pryor Academy. I will be combining the knowledge I gain from this course with the knowledge I have acquired over the years from others, and from my own puppies to provide some classes that will focus on building confident puppies which will lead to more confident and stable dogs. Looking very forw...ard to it! I will continue to offer agility classes at a beginner and intermediate level as I am addicted to the game and LOVE sharing this addiction with others. I learn from some of the best in the world and cannot wait to share it with others! I will be adding a trick class to the list of fun things to do! Who doesn't enjoy working on tricks with your dog?? Tricks are one of the best ways to build a strong bond <3 Tricks increase your dogs mental function :-) Once you understand the concept of how to teach a dog a trick, the sky is the limit! I will no longer be working with aggression cases. Aggression cases really deserve someone that specializes in working with these dogs and families. My personal interests lie elsewhere and it is not fair for me to bite off more than I can chew. I would be happy to try to help you find a trainer or behaviorist that can help you out. Looking forward to what the future holds! Like spring.....really looking forward to spring :-)

There is always a reason your dog is not responding to your cue. None of which include - being stubborn, defiant, dominant, stupid, lazy or many others along those lines. Work with your dog, not against them

The boys and I attended ClickerExpo Live over the weekend! What is that?? 3 jam packed days of lectures and demos all from the comfort of the couch (this year). They worked hard at settling in their crates or on a bed, did a little bit of shaping and hung out with their buddies. Surprise met a new "friend" and got to sniff some wee baby puppies Lots of learning for ALL of us!

Day 7 - hand Touches! For this trick you will get your dog to push their nose into your palm. I love this trick as a way to build value for being close, to test arousal, build some fun into the recall, distracting my dog from something as well as agility foundation for contact work. To start, present your hand super close to your dogs nose, when they investigate, say yes or click, flip the target hand palm up and deliver a treat to the target hand. Do not move the target h...and other than to flip it. Work at your dog's level, building up a solid understanding before making it more difficult. To make more challenging you can move your hand further away so they have to work harder to touch it. In the video you can see that Surprise has some value and enthusiasm so I added some it's your choice with food, some backing up (you could also use other cues) to test listening. Have fun! See more

Day 6! Scooch This is basically a reverse crawl. Keeping te dog nice and low as they move backwards along the ground. Instructions are on the video, if they are unclear, please ask. The video has a demo by Taken as well as Surprise's 1st attempt so that you can see the early stages. He was very into offering his head down since that is what we worked on yesterday
