TRAINING TIP OF THE WEEK: Aggression and Your Energy If you are out walking your dog on the street, at a dog park or nature trail [on/off leash] and your pooch is approached by a potentially aggressive dog, do your best to not react in a nervous or frightened way. ALWAYS remain cool, calm and collected. Stand your ground but remain grounded. Dogs are INCREDIBLY receptive to energies and will sense your frequency if it suddenly shifts to a heightened state. The strange dog wil...l sense your fear and become emboldened; your dog will feel as if it needs to protect you from the strange dog and become reactive. Female dog owners with male dogs this is especially true! Do not panic; yell or scream, and don't pick up your dog. A strange dog approaching to play will assume this is game and may start to jump up and nip at your dog, inadvertently hurting him/her. To diffuse a potential threat to your dog, once the strange dog approaches, start to talk to both dogs in a jovial, higher pitch tone or with a "baby talk voice"... "hey puppy, aren't you cute! Are you coming to say hi?!" This will put both dogs at ease. Lastly, we should try to assume that most dog owners are responsible and will not allow a potentially aggressive dog to be off leash. Either way, when in doubt, be mindful of your energy. Thanks for reading! Chris@ Playful Pups Doggy Daycare Certified Dog Trainer & Behavior Specialist

Hi there! Here’s some house keeping rules to remember going into our winter months! 1. It’s cold and flu season for even our furry friends. If you notice any coughing or excessive sneezing from your pup please stay home. 2.Please make sure if you don’t plan on bringing in your pup that you let us know so we can open up a spot for someone else and staff appropriately. ... 3. Please also remember that we close at 6:00 and not 6:30. If traffic is bad or an emergency comes up please let us know and we can work around that however please be here to pick up your pup by 6. 4. Lastly please remember to call and wait your turn during pick up and drop offs. With Covid-19 getting worse we want to ensure everyone is as safe and healthy as possible. Thanks everyone we look forward to seeing you all soon!
