Join us for our Spring Pilates Workshop to take your riding up a notch. We will be focusing on posture and core stability to improve your movement with your h...orse. I believe that good posture on the ground is essential for good riding posture. When your body is flexible and strongly supported, it translates into the saddle, and creates balance in movement with your horse. Core stability aids in improving posture, and can affect a rider’s strength and evenness of both sides of their body. We will run rider’s through different pilates exercises that develop the posture and core stability that specifically aids rider-specific muscle groups and movement patterns. Join us in April for a morning of Pilates. Talking to Carl Hester about positive tension: Watching Charlotte working Valegro, that the incredible quality that she was showing was positive tension, he was... electric, he was never stressed, but he was electric, and that’s a very weird concept Where it tips over, that positive tension, is if you let the horse get strong in the bridle. Once you let the horse become heavy on the hand and strong in the bridle, it’s not positive any more, because then there is a block. This young rider, Nachelle Forde, is from Winnipeg. She is currently amongst the Canadian contingent training in Florida. As a member of the Canadian Young Ride...r team she is dotting all her i's and crossing all of her T's, as she plans her goals and takes the necessary steps to see them come to fruition, including working with top coaches, and riding competitively. The Rider's Edge is very proud to share this picture that Nachelle kindly took with her horse and holding her Rider's Training Journal, which she uses to document her fitness sessions, as well as her riding. Joan is currently in the process of becoming certified as a Pilates "Reformer" teacher. The Reformer is a piece of Pilates equipment, which uses a 'bed-like frame, with a moving carriage, with several springs attached. This is a wonderful piece of equipment for riders to work out on, as it builds strength and flexibility both, without building 'bulk'.
