I have had many jobs but none like this one. To work with such a bright and fun bunch of people as the team at Candela is a true honor. What these guys can acc...omplish is beyond imagination. Since we deal with a type of vehicle never done before, imagination is really the core of what we do. While the overall vision is to make seaborne transportation fossil free, we sometimes just have to dive deep into the connection between boating experience and physics. Like this: Can a boat feel tight when turning? Like the car I bought at the age of 26. Except for being overpowered, it seemed to have no limits in terms of how hard one could push it in turns. Can the feeling of being glued to the road become a reality in a boat? Now we know it can. And as all problem solving it feels easy and embarrassingly obvious when the solution is found. Check this graph showing the wanted roll angle ("rollRef") and the actual roll angle. Its pretty tight. Crazy tight. Like in a fighter jet - the faster you can roll/bank, the faster you turn. Then the wings push you sideways. This is still in our R&D boat but we will make sure to get it into production boats soon. Glued to water while flying above. See more
