And it’s the Friday report: tomorrow’s Saturday Wellington Farmers Market, from 9 to 1pm, will be the last one for 2020!!! First, the pumpkin: it took 6 hours ...over two days to roast the 45 lb Musquée de Provence, not counting the cutting, gutting and peeling. But the colour is the most vibrant orange I have ever seen! I will know later today how many pies I’ll get out of this beauty! Secondly, fans of my apple butter and mince fruit...tada! It’s done and will be at tomorrow’s market, along with our whole array of baked and gourmet foods. So stay tuned...on the winning number of pumpkin pies. See you all tomorrow...spookie Halloween Day! For tomorrow’s Saturday Market, we will have our first pumpkin pies! Mmmm, I LOVE Pumpkin pie. And not from pumpkin in can...Nooooo! The real deal...First, pump...kins from our garden that André lovingly watered three times a day because of the relentless heat and drought. Then the pumpkin is cut, seeded and roasted slowly with just a hint of water for about 90 minutes, then cooled enough to handle, peeled and puréed, ready to be turned into a velvety yumminess of custard and sweet spices. A true labour of love! See you folks tomorrow...wear your wellies and macs. We’ll be there, rain or shine from 9 to 1 with our array of pies, tourtières, Chili ketchup, etc...etc... See more

So many beautiful things happening all at once... Tomorrow, Saturday, Wellington Farmers Market 9 to 1! Peach pies, wild blueberry pies, sour cherry pies and ra...spberry pies... Berry rhubarb crumbles.... Basil pesto and kale from our garden... Our full line up of tourtières, vegan pies, duck confit, chicken pot pies... Yum yums and dill pickles, pickled beets. And I hope to have time to pot some marigolds to protect the nasties from nibbling on your basil leaves...works for me! See you folks tomorrow!
Ready for tomorrow’s Wellington Farmers Market! Fresh Berry Rhubarb crumbles and raspberry pies and our coolers full of yumminess! Too hot to cook...did you kno...w you can easily reheat one of my tourtières in the BBQ with indirect heat...recreate your oven outdoors maintaining the BBQ’s temp between 350-400F. Transfer the tourtière in a cast iron pan or leave it in the foil plate and put it on the turned off side the bbq for 45-60 min et voilà...toss some greens, open a lovely Rosé and no hot kitchen!
