Reverse Engineering and CAD Design One of the services that we provide at Precision Measurement and Design is to reverse engineer parts and create solid models for re-manufacturing purposes. The photos below represent one of our recent reverse engineering projects. In this project, we received multiple tooling blocks of progressive dies and we scanned them in order to collect the point cloud. With having the point cloud ready, we were able to connect points and create surface meshing. Finally, we created the solid model for each block using closed surfaces. CMM Measurement on Parts with No Checking Fixture We receive many projects from our clients that require CMM measurement on parts with no checking fixture. With our fixture plate, standoff fixtures, and adjustable clamps, we make a very consistent and repeatable setup to perform the measurement. The fixtures we have also help us to get access the parts datums and all the features that require measurement. We share the setup with our customers so if they want to run the program on their CMM, they can make the similar setup. -CMM Measurement on Parts with Super Tight Tolerance- They called it ring but I call it cylindrical monster with very tight tolerance. We received these "rings" and we were asked to measure the ID and OD of the ring with the tolernace of 0.0005". With the high accuracy of our machine (volumetric accuracy of 0.005 mm or 0.0002") we were able to measure and certify the rings.
