The Pultec EQH-2 equalizer was first released in 1956 by Pulse Techniques Inc. The two manipulatable frequency ranges are partitioned by separate sets of knobs and allow for both boost and attenuation to be applied independently of as well as simultaneously with each other, creating a sound that is unique to this piece of hardware. A go-to unit for low percussion and vocals, the Pultec EQH-2 has been emulated in various plugins. If you use this EQ in your mixes, tell us how!

The 1176 Limiting Amplifier by Universal Audio was first released in 1967. A FET compressor that has quick attack and release times, the 1176 is a versatile piece of hardware that acts perfectly on various audio sources such as vocals, drums, and bass. This compressor has been modelled countless times by several different plugin companies including Waves, Universal Audio, and Softube FET. If you use this compressor in your mixes, tell us how you use it!
