Join us, Tuesday, October 20th from 11am - 12pm (PST) for our first BCFSC webinar, The Importance of Reporting Significant Incident Failure Potential (SIFp) Eve...nts with host Troy Withey, West Fraser’s Corporate Safety Manager for Canada/ US. SIFp events are near-miss events with a high risk of Serious Injury or Failure. Many near-miss incidents associated with high-risk activity have the potential for serious injuries and failures including fatalities. Some near misses are not reported because no one was injured. However, reporting all near misses allows the operation to fully investigate the causes and develop controls to avoid these incidents in the future. Troy will address the importance of reporting near-miss SIFp events and how this SIFp incident reporting system can be easily integrated into your safety processes. As a result of several recent syngas explosions, the Wood Pellet Association of Canada (WPAC)’s Safety Committee has developed an educational video - Best Pract...ices in Managing Combustible Gas - to help operators minimize the risks associated with syngas. The 7-minute video contains vital information about combustible gas and how to avoid syngas build-up.
