Over time, the rubber on a pool table comes to the end of it's life. Rubber should last at least 10 to 15 years. (Unfortunately, Asian made tables have a very inconsistent life span, much shorter) The following pictures show the different stages of replacing the rubber. Step one is to remove and prepare and clean the surface for gluing of the new rubber. I use a two pass glue method to ensure the glue absorbs into the materials. The first pictures shows the new rubber glued o...nto the rails waiting for the 24 hours dry period to ensure a great adhesions. (Some pool table mechanics rush this stage, which could result in the rubber detaching in a short time period) The second picture shows the first cut of the rubber. (Some pool table mechanics at this point glue on the rubber end shown in picture 4. Note the uneven edge) The third picture shows the finished end in preparation for the rubber end pieces. And the fourth picture shows the finished re-rubber pool table rails ready for new cloth. These pictures show a Boston Style pool table rail. Snooker Style pool table rails take more time as each corner needs to be shaped and sanded. If you have any comments or suggestions, I would love to hear from you.
I would have to say that being part of the Vancouver Olympic experience was and pleasure and honor. After going through the loops and hoops of a security check and seminar of what, where and how to work on the secure site(s) (Vancouver and Whistler), it was time to get to work. These tables made and donated by Olhausen (manufacture from the USA), were custom build for both the Olympic and Paralympic games. The pictures show the different stages of building the tables onsite in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Hello to the world of FaceBook. New to this incredible social networking venue. Would love for people to comment or pass on suggestions. The picture below is a 4 1/2'x9' Dufferin pool table trying to be moved by "Profession House Movers" The issue with this is, what you seen weighs about 800lbs. This needs to go up one flight of tiled stairs, then down a flight of outside brick stairs with out damaging the house or pool table. My suggestion, get a professional pool table guy and take the table apart to save the house and pool table. Thanks.
