So your stellar resume landed you a job interview. And after the interview you don't get the job. Perhaps it wasn't the fact that there was someone more qualified, but something you said or did that put your interviewer off. Here's an informative article I thought I'd share, and if you are guilty of one or more of these, time to do some reflection, dust your shoulder off, move forward and do better next time. Enjoy! http://www.businessinsider.com/annoying-things-candidates-d

Here are some tips on approaching recruiters. Remember, you need to make a positive, professional and lasting first impression. Conduct yourself in the same manor as you would to a potential employer. They need to feel confident presenting you to their clients. Happy start of the new work week folks! If you haven’t already, perhaps it’s time to invest some time and energy into building a solid LinkedIn profile. Optimize your profile to draw hiring professionals in need of your talents with these 10 tips:... 1. Create a catchy headline with relevant and valuable key words in your industry and field. You’ve got 120 characters! 2. Write a professional and personalized summary. How do you personalize a professional summary? State your why. Passion is what ignites drive and motivation. 3. Upload a professional and approachable photo of yourself looking the part (at work or a head shot in business attire). 4. Your work experience should outline scope, achievements, and actions with results. 5. Fill in as many columns as you can, and make your profile visible especially if you are actively seeking opportunities. 6. Include as many key words in your field and industry throughout your profile as you can. You need to show up in searches. Did you know that when employers post jobs on LinkedIn, LinkedIn generates profile matches for them based on key words? 7. Have past managers, colleagues and instructors write you a recommendation about your work (visible on your profile and earns you credibility). 8. Join groups, get involved in discussions, connect with people in your targeted industry and attend industry events (nothing beats a human connection). 9. Customize your LinkedIn URL using your first and last name. Include your URL in your resume contact details, inviting hiring professionals to learn more about you. 10. Don’t just like and comment on other posts, be a leader and post and share industry-related news, blogs, pictures and videos (remember to keep it professional, positive and relevant to your work). Good luck! :)
