I am missing you and your events so much and cannot wait to be able to safely celebrate again. I miss you, I miss my family and I miss my friends. Sigh... This week has been a huge one for me personally as my parents received their first dose of vaccine and when the new guidelines reduced the age to 40 and over, my sister, my husband, some of my best friends and I were able to get ours too. I know the numbers are terrible and there is so much more to do but I can’t help but... feel a little hopeful. We’re still closed but are hoping to open on a limited basis when the restrictions lift for immediate family gatherings. We are accepting bookings for that time under the condition that we will have to keep it a little loosey goosy (technical business jargon) until we know for sure what the status of restrictions are. During this time, I’ve been very busy behind the scenes making sure we can provide you with the absolute best experiences when we can gather again. In the meantime, I’ve been able to check a box off my bucket list. I’ll share more on that later today. I’ve also cut my hair into a style that I can only describe as the ‘Gordon Gekko’...we all handle stress in different ways. I hope you and your family are well and staying hopeful. I’ll spare you the Albus Dumbledore quote that’s been running on loop in my brain all week but, please know I love you, I appreciate you, and am so looking forward to being able to see you again. Over the years, we’ve been delighted to set up so many ‘first sleepovers’ for our clients. We’re always thrilled to help make a child’s first sleepover a magical event. A lot of people ask us the best age to have a first slumber party. The truth is, it’s different for everyone (I know, not helpful at all). Most experts are hesitant to put a number on it as all children develop the social and emotional skills required to attend a sleepover at different rates. Culture and famil...y comfortability also play an important role. That said, in our experience based on the hundreds of slumber parties we have hosted, the most common age of a Pop Up Party guest is 10 years old. We have accommodated afternoon PJ parties for children as young as 4 and Prosecco & PJ parties for a group of women celebrating their 30th year, but most of our slumber parties are to celebrate double digits :) We’re really looking forward to a time when we can help our clients celebrate this important milestone once again! Hello! We have some new followers so I thought it was a good time to reintroduce myself! My name is Stefanie and I'm a self proclaimed chipmunk whisperer, and the dreamer behind Pop Up Party. I get a lot of questions about how we got here, so here it goes! When I was in my early stages of adulting, I moved out west to with a great guy who would soon become my husband. Adam worked for a large power tool company and travelled a lot so I found myself alone ALL THE TIME with a g...arage full of tools and no friends. I started playing around, and soon fell in love with creating things with my hands. Looking back on those days, I’m so glad to still have all of my fingers. Thanks Mr. Denny (my grade 7 shop teacher) - something you taught must have stuck! I’ve spent most of my career working with children which I also love. I love the way kids see things, how much wonder they find in the everyday. I always wanted to be around that kind of energy. As time went on, we decided to move back to Ontario with our 2 awesome kids (Stefan and Alivia), where we bought a fixer upper. As a young family starting out, I quickly realized that my design tastes FAR exceeded my design budget so I would do many projects in our home myself to save money. Late one night while on a Pinterest binge looking for inspiration for my next project, I came across an Australian company who specialised in slumber parties for kids. I was so amazed. What a magical way to have a first sleepover with friends! I immediately went searching around the web to see if someone was offering the service here so I could throw an amazing slumber party for my daughter. I hit a roadblock. No one was doing it... I started to wonder if maybe I should! The opportunity to combine my passion for creating and my love of children into a career seemed like the greatest gift. Pop Up Party was born, and I honestly can’t imagine doing anything else! There you have it! Our origin story! That’s enough about me, I'd love to get to know you a little better too! It’s the first ‘official’ day back after holidays, and we’re planning for the year ahead! We started by looking back at the year that was (& wasn’t), taking stock and setting some new goals for Pop Up Party to achieve. One of the top things on our list is to re-jig our website. We’ve got a bunch of fun things to get on there but haven’t found the time. We’ve committed to get that done over the next few weeks. It’s tedious work and mind numbingly boring, literally the last t...hing in the world we want to be doing, so it’s best we get it done now when there aren’t the distractions of way funner (yep, I know it’s not a word but I’m going with it) tasks like talking to clients and putting together parties! It’s not a huge goal but, if we don’t prioritize it, it’ll wind up on next years list of goals! I spent a little time setting some personal goals this year too! Oh, karaoke machine. Kind of a cruel joke to add on to a sleep over. Never in the history of sleepovers has anyone ever said ‘I love all this squealing, I just wish it were louder!’ That said, kids can’t get enough of it, so our lovely clients frequently add it on to their slumber parties. The window seat was the ideal place to display our custom throw pillows, the nook was the most amazing fit for the photo booth! We brought along some extra frills to tie in the bed and are so pleased with the way the whole scene turned out.
