Porcupine Ridge Mountain Bike Trails 05.01.2021

Last week, a member of the @morcamtb board of directors noticed something was missing from one of our trailheads, and something was left in its place. One of o...ur custom fabricated donation boxes was stolen. This act of vandalism left a massive hole at the trailhead, which posed a safety concern to trail users. Thankfully, the machine dug hole was filled within only a few short hours and nobody was injured. As a not-for-profit organization, our volunteers work tirelessly to provide well maintained trails for not only mountain bikers, but all users. Our funding is entirely raised through membership purchases, and local sponsors. While items such as this can be replaced, the safety concerns with the remnants of this act of vandalism outweigh the monetary hit we will take. The reason for the prank, act of vandalism, theft, remains unknown. If anyone has any information, please reach out. In the meantime, the trailhead is safe for all users to resume use.

Trail Conditions Yesterday’s weather sure was a doozy. There are reports of power outages and many trees down within Muskoka and surrounding areas this mo...rning. This will have undoubtedly impacted both the #porcupineridge and #brmc trail systems. We ask that you choose to wait until volunteers have assessed for damages within both trail systems. This is your both your safety and enjoyment of the trail systems. That being said - we are looking for volunteers to help us comb through both trail systems! Shoot us a DM or email us at [email protected] if you are interested in joining the crew.

Over the past number of weeks, our board of directors have been taking turns with trail maintenance and spring cleanup at both the #BRMC and #PorcupineRidge, pr...eparing for the day we got to announce that the trails are open for riding. We’ve been receiving lots of messages inquiring about the status of the trails at both the BRMC & Porcupine Ridge. Both of which are officially now OPEN! The BRMC trails remain open for riding, and trails are in excellent shape. Porcupine Ridge has been given the go ahead by private land owners to re-open for riding, with trails in great shape. We ask you all to respect social distancing guidelines on the trails and in the parking lots to ensure these trailheads remain open for the foreseeable future. As our volunteer crew has not been able to head out on the trails as a group, no major build days or maintenance days have taken place. BUT, that being said, we can assure you that our volunteers have been behind the scenes on solo missions to ensure these trails were ready! Thank you thank you thank you. We ask you to consider the following when riding these trails >> Please do not gather in groups. Please do not aprés in the parking lots. Maintain social distancing on the trails and ride within your limits. As always, please report any trees down or any major trail issues through Trailforks or directly to any of our social media outlets. Thank you to our 2019/2020 sponsors who have agreed to participate in our member benefits for this season. With the current economic status we thank those businesses for continuing to do so. Members, thank you for your patience as we solidified our benefits packages with our sponsors before moving forward with the mailouts. First batch of membership packages are on their way to you! So keep an eye on your mailbox in the coming week. Lastly, thank you for making it to the end of this lengthy post. See you on the trails! - but from 6ft apart. : @crankngrind See more
