The Canadian Hog Journal proudly supports swine industry research! A new study has demonstrated a reliable way to physically distance while trick-or-treating ...during COVID-19: The average strip of cooked bacon measures 16.84 centimetres in length. Therefore, you will require approximately one dozen strips, stacked end-to-end, to maintain two metres from others. With that knowledge, we wish you a safe and Happy Halloween! Take the chance to rest and relax this weekend, and appreciate all the important work you have done for our industry and country. You deserve it!... The Fall 2020 edition of the Canadian Hog Journal will be published next month, featuring an update on producer-packer shared value concerns, an exploration of marketing power, an overview of African Swine Fever preparedness, coverage of pro-trucker rallies, COVID-19's impact on meat retail, industry news, research and more! From enjoying the art and culture of BBQ, down to the farm level, Canadians rely on having safe food available to feed themselves and their families. Freedom of choice is foundational to our Canadian way of life, and while peaceful protest is one of those choices, so is eating meat. Legislation in Alberta, and now Ontario, protects farmers, truckers, their families, their animals and even protesters from harm due to dangerous activities such as illegal farm invasions or interfering with transport vehicles.

Versatile, delicious Canadian pork has been gracing Japanese consumers' plates since the 1970s. The long-standing relationship between our countries is remarkable and appreciated! The high-quality, grain-based diet of Canadian pigs provides a meat firmness and marbling that's preferred. Consumers are willing to pay a premium for this delicacy. While producers are suffering from low pig prices, pork exports help strengthen our value chain and create a lucrative market for hard-working Canadian farmers' products.
