Community FYI, it's Farmers' Market Day!
Tomorrow, Friday May 21, is Take & Make day! We have the Good In Every Grain kits available, thanks to the generosity of the Grain Farmers of Ontario. The What's Growing On Seed Kits get you started with either wheat or soybeans. Grow your own plants, and check out the online resources for additional fun.
Are you new to Port Colborne? Want to borrow books? Want to try our online resources? Get the ball rolling with a few quick steps. Either visit us at the library, call 905-834-6512, or register online at https://portcolborne.niagaraevergreen.ca/eg/opac/register, then call us between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to confirm your details. While on the phone, we’ll assist in placing holds and then all you need to do is swing by the Library, show ID for verification and pick up your brand new card and books (or movies, or board games, or CDs, or audiobooks, or magazines). We have 4 different cards (young explorer, building, logo, kindness rocks) do you have a favourite?

Tomorrow begins 2021 Black History Month in Canada. In February we celebrate Black History Month and honour Black Canadians whose struggles and achievements have shaped our country. In December 1995, the Parliament of Canada officially recognized February as Black History Month, following a motion introduced by the first Black Canadian woman elected to Parliament, the Honourable Jean Augustine. The motion was carried unanimously by the House of Commons. In February 2008, Sena...tor Donald Oliver, the first Black man appointed to the Senate, introduced the Motion to Recognize Contributions of Black Canadians and February as Black History Month. The motion received unanimous approval and was adopted on March 4, 2008. https://blackhistorysociety.ca/ https://byblacks.com/events https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/beingblackincanada https://www.etfo.ca//EquityResourc/pages/blackhistory.aspx https://bctf.ca/socialjustice.aspx?id=17660 https://www.rcinet.ca/bhm-en/ For virtual events, try Eventbrite - "black history month canada". There were some questions from patrons about the Libby app and the new 3000+ magazines available for download. Check out this mini tutorial and see if it helps a bit. Touch your Libby icon, next limit your search by language preference and scroll down until you get to Magazines. Touch the text link, and touch and more for a list of subjects, select the subject you want. Touch the magazine cover of your choice and touch Borrow (scroll down for past issues). You get magazines for 14 days and they DON’T count against your check out limits on your account. From the main Libby screen you can perform a subject search as well, then just select Magazines.
