Positive Approach Fitness 03.07.2021

Old habits die hard. Have you been slaying your goals? If so, then you are on point! Meal planning is a success. You’ve been scheduling and hitting those gym sessions. You’ve been committed. You can see the changes. You are owning your success. Fast forward a couple of weeks, maybe a month or two. All of a sudden, you’re in a rut, you don’t understand why you keep reaching for food outside of your planned meals and you’ve skipped a few gym sessions. You’re now upset with you...rself because you feel you’re failing yourself and you don’t understand why. You had it all under control. You ask yourself what’s wrong with me? Why do I self-sabotage? You keep beating yourself up which, of course, doesn’t help you get back to where you once were in the process. Why do we go back to old habits after achieving such success? Old habits die hard. When we’re not paying attention to the triggers of those habits, we are guaranteed that those habits will return without even realizing when it’s happening. We don’t realize it because we are so consumed with our failures, beating ourselves up and looking for the next best method to reach our goals. Big changes are a happening around here and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you guys ! Change defined: The act or instance of making or becoming different.... Have you ever been in a stage in your life where you know that things need to change? Are you there now? I have two beliefs on change. I did not always have these beliefs but one day I just had the realization that I am the one in control: I can accept where I am and not complain about it. Or I am in control of my life. I’m in control of where I want to go and the time is now to move in a different direction. The minute I realized I had the control, I was in the driver’s seat. All perspective on my life changed. Change doesn’t happen overnight and it certainly won’t stick if it doesn’t make you happy or if you have to force it. Of course it should also be said that when changing our lives, whether it be for our health, careers or just personal happiness, the motivation needs to come from within not from someone else’s dream or what want for you. It is life and at the end of the day when you are old, grey and wrinkled, do you want to look back with regret at all the choices you’ve made to please someone else? I would hate for you to miss out on the life that serves purpose. Are you ready for change? So about 3 weeks ago my 2 ribs that like to pop out popped out again . Went to chiro, went to acupuncture(she also gives a great massage-message me if you want her name! Seriously!)was not improving at all. Went to the Dr... torn ligament in my rib cage. I wake up ok... Pain not bad but there BUT by the afternoon I’m in excruciating pain. Well last night I put Deep Relief on and I could finally get to sleep! I’ll be pairing with Lemongrass and Marjoram as they are both fantastic oils for ligament tears and strains! #Repost @precisionnutrition (@get_repost) From Coach Craig: - Early in my time in the military, I had to wake up at 3:00am to walk to a special programs workout that started at 3:45.... - I had a strict routine. I’d get dressed, grab a small pack and be out the door by 3:14. - At 3:20 I was waiting under a streetlight for a friend. By 3:35 I was in line with my boat crew and ready for about two hours of training. - The weak point in this process was getting out of bed on time. - An extra 5 minutes in bed would make my friend fall behind schedule while waiting for me. Then, we would have to run the whole way to the workout. - My solution had nothing to do with an inordinate amount of willpower. I simply put my alarm clock on a shelf on the other side of the room. When it went off, I had to jump out of bed on the top bunk to shut it off. - We all make grandiose plans for our future selves. On Monday, I’m going to start learning a new language, working out early every morning and eating better. - The thing is, we never actually meet our future selves. They’ll never get around to any of the tasks we assign to them. When that future time rolls around it’s our experiencing selves who take charge. And the last time they needed all that willpower, our current selves dumped the job on that guy in the future. - It’s easy to hit the snooze button. We can’t remedy that by convincing ourselves that tomorrow will be different. Try harder next time never works for long. - Think of a drop of water. You want it to get from point A to point B. You’re not going to expect the water to get there because that’s what’s good for it. You expect it to follow the path of gravity. If the environment were to change, so would the path of the water. - We’re not that different from that drop of water. We have limited control over future actions. What we *can* do is shape our environments so that the path of least resistance is the one we want to take. - Relocating my alarm clock was a way of doing that. - If you or a client is struggling to change a habit, don’t try to solve it by trying the same thing but harder.
