I teach a very effective version of pelvic floor strengthening, and have a solid knowledge of yoga and the postpartum body. Maybe this is something that could turn into a class if the interest is there? You would need : - a yoga mat - a peanut ball (I have them available for sale)

Happy Mother's Day Being a mom can mean a lot of things. To me, it's the chance to love and nurture and learn about two little humans that share my genes. Being a mom is also hard. It's feeling full of worry about doing things right. It's lack of sleep, crazy hair and pjs all day because you forgot to get dressed (unless you have to leave the house). It's balancing the desire for clean floor with your child's love of sensory play. So many things get neglected because now the...y come first. Now you can change diapers in the dark or upside down and distinguish hunger cries from boredom cries. You know your little creature better than anyone else, but some days you still worry you are doing it all wrong. You miss going out by yourself and not having a schedule, but when you try leaving your child with someone (someone you trust) you miss them and feel like rushing home. Motherhood is so much. And you are doing amazing. All you need to do is love them, listen to them and build their confidence to be great humans, just like you, their momma. See more

Doulas are allowed! Plan for your best possible birth experience at home or the hospital. Hiring a doula is a worthwhile choice to help you have a positive birth experience. I have been helping families in Fort McMurray and beyond with pregnancy, birth and postpartum care and education. Having a doula means emotional support during your pregnancy, education for what to expect during birth, plus tips for comfort along the way. During your labour your doula is always there. I...'ll help you and your spouse support your birth choices and manage your discomfort with lots of non-medical coping techniques. You can achieve a natural birth if that's one of your goals! After birth, a doula will help with breastfeeding and questions about newborn care and attachment. You'll know what to expect and how to cope with commonly asked new parenting questions. Plus a doula still offers around the clock support with newborn care. Everyone deserves a great birth and amazing support. Having a baby is one of the biggest changes you'll ever make, even if it's your second or third. A doula will give you that one on one support to make the journey easier. Let an expert help with some of your worries to make the planning and birth go smoother.

Let's talk trauma. It's not an easy subject, but each of us has most likely experienced some physical or emotional trauma in our lives so far. Sometimes childbirth doesn't go as planned, or you are dealing with emotional pain from a previous miscarriage or birth experience. Your feelings are important, your feelings are real. It's hard to move on from trauma and find healing. It's an important step to consider when preparing for this birth. No two experiences are the same. Ch...eck out the tips in this article, and if you need support by debriefing your experiences or help finding counselling I'm here to help. Preparing for birth mentally is equally as important as the physical aspect, and so is the recovery process. https://www.helpguide.org//coping-with-emotional-and-psych

Hearing NO can be really hard. The first time we heard it was probably as children. Then we were taught to say it to protect our bodies and our choices. My son is 6 and it was the first word he could spell, so he yells N-O constantly as a battle for autonomy and power over the rules of our house. Sometimes the NO is flexible. If your doctor doesn't support your VBAC, you can still have one. No one can force you to have a c section. If your midwife says NO to supporting you in... a homebirth, you still have a choice, but you must weigh the safety of your decision. NO's are biased, and some have more power than others. Women have a lot of choices in birth but are still frequently told NO about options that they may have a say in if they were birthing in Edmonton or another province. Sometimes we accept those NOs - no vaginal breech births, limited skin to skin after a c section, no twins born vaginally. There are also always exceptions to those rules, and there are changes that can happen if we all keep asking the same questions and presenting the current research. I'm an optimist at heart, I can almost always find an upside. NO doulas in the hospital is hard. We need to keep asking, and we need to keep hiring doulas. We doulas have a million ways to support you, we are trained problem solvers when it comes to birth. It may be extra prenatal sessions, virtual support, cheat sheets, bringing food, or postnatal support. Don't let this NO make you think we aren't still there or still valuable. We are also right now advocating for your birth choices; we are fighting this so hard. I really appreciate every family that chose me, and all those that have hired me despite COVID19. This is just a faze, but your birth is forever. I promise that having a doula will be a benefit, whether we are there in person or through the phone. And we need to keep asking for change. That's the only way they will hear us. Remember to sign our appeal, or email me your reasons for supporting doulas in our hospital

I've recently started seeing an amazing personal trainer to help with my pelvic floor dysfunctions. It's been very eye opening, because also I kegel daily, practice yoga and teach breathing. I would have thought I was caring for my pelvic floor! Good pelvic floor health is important to a healthy core and abdominal strength. Doing kegels or abdominal breathing wrong can make you pelvic floor muscles too tight or not strong enough. This can lead to numerous problems during pre...gnancy, birth and postpartum. I'm not an expert on this subject, so I recommend you look into seeing a Pelvic Floor Specialist during your pregnancy for any concerns, as well as a Chiropractor. These exercises will help to strengthen your transverse abdominals (super important for pushing) and your pelvic floor. You'll be able to feel it when you are doing them correctly! The Spinning Babies Daily essentials are also designed to reduce pelvic floor dysfunction and promote optimal fetal position for a better birth! https://mutusystem.com//how-to-engage-your-transverse-abd/
