Merry Christmas from #possibilot to all those who celebrate! May your holidays have peace and health and may we enter 2021 with hope.

Presuming #competence is vital. A #child with #Autism is not dumb - they just learn and #communicate differently.

Join Author Sandra Wilson and follow along for the book-a-day advent calendar - Each day she will introduce you to one of the Emotional Animal Alphabet books and offer a learning idea to take the story further.

#ContactlessPayment We've got it! Virtual sessions are paid via bank #etransfer and in the #clinic we have a POS for tap payment via debit, credit card, or through your phone. Easy-peasy, no problem.

Are you an #early bird? No need to come super early. Our waiting room is currently closed, so come *right* at your #appointment time and I will let you in. As the weather gets colder and the potential for the white stuff flying comes(I know!! Shh!!), you can stay in your car and text or call me or simply wait there and come out when I come to the door!

#Who comes to appointments?? Please don't bring the whole #family to the #clinic! To keep everyone safe and to stagger entry and exit to the clinic for all practitioners we are allowing 1 parent and 1 child at a time into sessions. Exceptions are made when you are a family of 3 (and all in the same Bubble) and it is beneficial for both parents to observe the strategies and techniques I am using with your child, for you to learn, or when there is a nursing baby that remains ...in your arms for the appointment. If you have siblings you would normally bring along to an OT session, please find care for them. Normally we would have on-site #childcare for (some of) parents booking treatments with our practitioners, but we have not returned fully to this service through Recharge & Play Wellness Café's ECE yet. (Yes, I will let you know when this service is back fully running again!! :) )

Do you know what #interoception is? It's the 8th #sensory system! This is one way I can work with your child on their ability to regulate their #emotions as well as work towards #pottytraining. Did you know about interoception already or is this a new concept for you?

Those who know me know that I like finding new ways to say what I mean, but that I learn well from how others phrase things. I love this chart of alternatives.

Sesame Street is helping kids learn to wear a mask. Can this help you?

How do you as a #parent experience #sensory #overload?

PossibilOT 27.06.2020

I could see this being good for work therapy...

PossibilOT 09.06.2020

Yes - differentiating calm from safe is important. One does not equal the other. That is why intensity of movement is used in sensory interventions, so that you can physiologically move through fight/flight - not necessarily avoid it.

This is the goal of many of my consultations - to help adults adjust their expectations to what is actually developmentally appropriate for their child's age and stage.
