Today we want you to meet two of our lecturers for the Summer School, Jennifer Gabrys and Emily Jones (photos: left Jennifer Gabrys, right Emily Jones). Do you feel inspired after reading their bios? Apply quickly, there are only a few places left. Jennifer Gabrys is Chair in Media, Culture and Environment in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cambridge. She leads the Planetary Praxis research group, and is Principal Investigator on the ERC-funded project, Smart Forests: Transforming Environments into Social-Political Technologies. During the summer school, she will present work from the Smart Forests project, focusing especially on the sensory infrastructures that observe, map, and act on forests to address environmental change. How do these technologies differently configure environments, organisms, and social-political action? Dr Emily Jones a Lecturer in Law at the University of Essex (UK). Emily is a generalist international lawyer whose interdisciplinary work combines theory and practice. Her work cuts across: posthuman legal theory; gender and international law; international environmental law; the law of the sea; science, technology and international law; and political economy, imperialism and international law. Within these areas her current work focuses on the rights of nature, military technologies (including autonomous weapons systems and human enhancement technologies) and the regulation of deep-sea mining.For more information about Dr Jones' work, please go to: https://www.essex.ac.uk/people/jones48003/emily-jones
