Postpartum Support Calgary 18.12.2020

Yesterday our members enjoyed a private story time + chat with Santa + Mrs Claus from their home in the North Pole. The kids enjoyed the opportunity to tell the Claus' their wishes for Christmas and have a book read to them...all from the comfort of their homes. Each year, we host an annual Holiday Party for our community and we always invite The Claus'. Due to the restrictions this year, our holiday party was cancelled but this didn't stop us from partaking in the spirit of Christmas.

Our members are gathering virtually today to bake for the holidays! It’s so much more fun baking together than alone + despite the restrictions, we are bringing joy through connecting. Sometimes it’s even more fun watching each other bake (with kids) than doing it yourself. Either way it’s always a great conversation on our calls! Share your baking with us by tagging @postpartumsupportyyc in your stories Photo + cookie masterpiece: @quietcornercookie

Today is our LAST day for donation drop off for our Holiday Giving Campaign! We’ve selected 4 families to give the gift of joy this holiday season + you’ve helped us make this happen! All gifts must be dropped off today at the closest designated drop off location near you. Please ensure you wrap the gift + label it with the Family # and who the gift is for (ie. boy, age 5). This will help us sort the hampers as we are unable to host a wrapping party this year due to the covid... restrictions. We are so full of gratitude for each and every single one of you who helped to make this happen! Thank you for donating + sharing the campaign with your friends + communities. And a special thank you to our business sponsors for all your support! We will share some behind the scenes action in our stories next week as we sort and deliver the gifts! www.postpartumsupportcalgary.ca/holiday-giving Share the love and help support our incredible business sponsors this year @mi_and_fi @moss_postpartum_house @babyandmeyyc @buttercreamclothing @samestarswellness @mountainsofsleep @strellewellness @laceandlocketphoto @thewellnessstudioyyc @shari_franks_photography @trishdoulayyc @wiseandwellyyc @marrowofmysoul #yyc #holidaygiving2020 #yyclocal

2020 - A LESSON IN GRACE For me this is the perfect time of year to retreat from the world and examine the year and myself. It’s cold, it’s dark and we are even being asked to reduce our social interactions again. 2020 certainly has given me a lot to think about and though it wasn't a busy year, I feel like I went through a transformation. As we know, parenting at any time can be challenging, but especially this past year parents had to dig deep to understand, protect, provi...de and care for their children. I hope that the insights I gained and my actions showed my children that even under extreme circumstances, we can succeed. I am defining grace as the ability to face difficult situations while remaining calm, respectful and kind. It is learning and growing to become a better version of yourself. It’s cooking class and today we are celebrating a member’s tradition of St Catherine’s Day by making traditional French-Canadian taffy candy! The tradition of taffy making on this day appears to have originated in Quebec and credited the nun Marguerite Bourgeois who founded the Congregation de Norte-Dame de Montreal. The story is told that she began making taffy, supposedly to attract children to school. She opened her first school on November 25th and commemorated the anniversary each year by making taffy. Our events are offered virtually from the comfort of your home currently! We have a lot of fun over here.
