Poundmakers Lodge Treatment Centres have taken the necessary steps to implement risk mitigation strategies in order to continue normal operations; as a result, a decision has been made to reinstate admissions to residential treatment. Prior to admission all clients are required to take the on line self assessment https://myhealth.alberta.ca//P/COVID-Self-Assessment.aspx Staff will also conduct the health assessment screening protocol at admission and clients will be admitted, as long as they do not exhibit symptoms of COVID-19. May Creator keep you strong during these difficult times. Poundmakers Lodge Treatment Centers is committed to doing our part in response to COVID-19, simultaneously supporting those seeking treatment during the pandemic crisis.... Poundmakers is cancelling all family and friend visits, open self-help meetings, and open ceremonies until further notice. We have limited clients outside appointments, as well as cancelled all non-essential visits. At the current time, Poundmakers Lodge Treatment Centres continues to provide residential treatment programs and services to our current clients in the 42 and 90-day program. The health, safety and well-being of our clients, staff, and our community is our top priority. Client rooms, common areas are being sanitized by the cleaning personnel and staff on a consistent basis. All staff and clients are provided hand sanitizer throughout the building. We are currently implementing information technology to provide tools to enable communication with family members and love ones on a regular basis through telehealth, facetime, skype and telephone. We have posted and conducted educational sessions conducted by our nursing staff to reinforce the importance of personal hygiene. PML nursing staff are educating clients to ease stress and worry, and continue to monitor health of both staff and clients Clients have been given the option to continue in treatment and sadly, a number of our clients have decided to self-terminate from the program due to COVID 19 fears, PML has supported and will continue to support clients who have requested to self-terminate as a result of the pandemic. All clients exiting from the program, whether it is early discharge or graduation, are supported with an exit package including safety precautions, safety planning, Naloxone kits, Narcan spray and relapse prevention plans and most importantly cultural supports. We will continue to conduct ceremony and we will continue to pray to the Creator that our community will be spared from this illness. The Poundmakers Lodge Treatment Centres Elders, Board and staff would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones warm wishes during this holiday season and a new year filled with creator’s blessings. We continue to focus on our mission statement on a daily basis - May the creator guide and strengthen us in our commitment to develop and deliver a high quality, holistic treatment experience that is based on Aboriginal concepts and spirituality which will emp...ower all people to recover from addictions. 2019 has been a time of transition and change for us as we continue to move toward our vision - supporting healthy communities that are free from addictions and support balanced lifestyles. We are pleased to announce the continued success of the Iskwew Healing Lodge; opened in fall 2013. The program focuses on continued recovery and healing with significance placed on Aboriginal women’s health determinants and the road to independence. The Iskwew Healing Lodge engages female clientele from the First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities and those who may feel a culturally based program can support their healing and recovery. The program is a natural extension of the work currently conducted at the main facility. Poundmakers Lodge Treatment Centres prides itself on its 46 year history of providing exceptional addiction treatment services to Aboriginal populations. We believe ongoing engagement through cultural ceremony significantly improves health outcomes amongst our Aboriginal peoples and strengthens Alberta's health care system. Currently, PLTC offers a 42 day adult residential treatment program and a specialized 90 day treatment program for young Aboriginal adults. 2020 promises to be a busy year filled with much activity and expansion in support of health and wellness in our Aboriginal communities. We are honored by the various relationships we have been able to develop in the past year and the continued support of our provincial, national and international work. We are focused on continued growth and development and embrace 2020 with anticipation. Recently, PLTC has undertaken much work to develop its additional sites and offer the full continuum of addiction services and we invite you to contact us directly for more information. We are truly grateful for the ongoing support and engagement from our respected elders, stakeholders and members of the community.
