However, we are inviting folks out on Saturday Oct 3 10am to 4 pm f...or The Great Pumpkin Tour to enjoy the Fall colours with the appropriate COVID safety precautions: Wear your mask and stay a safe distance from others. There will lots going on including local Artisans, sugarbush tours, scavenger hunt, taffy on ice and maple pumpkin treats. Dress warm, this is an outside event! See more

Head to Bella Hill Maple Syrup next Saturday (47 Bella Hill Road, six miles west of Powassan) to experience guided walks through their colourful fall maple bus...h, a forest scavenger hunt, and taste maple taffy on ice. There's maple products to purchase and a HUGE maple products gift basket giveaway draw. There's also three outdoor vendors that day- Heather's Fudge, Loons Nest Pottery, and Mud Dog Creek Candles! If you are lucky enough to catch a decent size lake trout for smoking, marinate overnight in lemon juice, soya sauce, and pickling salt and some water to cover,... and baste often with Bella Hill Maple Syrup while its being smoked. Maple Monday! Maple Blueberry Crisp Ingredients: 4 cups fresh or frozen blueberries 1/2 cup maple syrup... 2 tablespoons cornstarch 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup cold butter 1 teaspoon almond extract Vanilla ice cream, optional Directions: Preheat oven to 375. In a large bowl, combine blueberries, syrup, cornstarch and cinnamon. Transfer to a greased 8-in square baking dish. In a small bowl, combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; stir in extract. Sprinkle over top. Bake until filling is bubbly and topping is golden brown, 35-40 minutes. If desired, serve with ice cream. As Dave has been busy fishing, I have been able to catch up on some things in the sugar shack. Today I am bottling syrup and finishing the maple suckers that I ...made yesterday. Our store is open for sales, though as we are not in syrup production we do not keep regular hours (if we are home, we are open. As such, we recommend calling ahead to make sure someone is available when you arrive). As we are not always in the sugar shack, we ask that upon arrival people call us at 705-724-3427 to let us know you are here. We are also at the North Bay Farmers' Market on Saturdays from 8:30am until 1pm. We bring our entire line of products, with the exception of our taffy (which is available at our farm). We are more than happy to have orders set aside ready for pickup at the market, particularly if you are after multiples of of products.
