- FACT CHECK - There is a lot of misinformation and rumours being spread, let's clear that up! - Did we have a patron(s) who was covid positive in our establis...hment. Yes. We had a small number of persons who arrived as a group who tested positive in the days after their visit. - Is the date and time known for possible exposure. Yes. December 31st between 8pm and 11pm. - We received information that we had customers on the above date who had tested positive. At that moment we were unsure of any spread and knew that contact could be an issue so we shut our doors. We sent our staff home to monitor and encouraged testing. We messaged our customers and made a post online. We acted quickly in prevention and out of caution. We did what was both morally and socially responsible. We know we did the right thing. - Blue Rhino is listed as an outbreak location. Late on January 12th we received an email from SHA stating we have been declared to have an outbreak due to the group here on Dec 31st. - After the 14 day infectious period from Dec 31st and with numerous staff and customers testing negative we felt it was time to reopen. We decided to wait an extra few days just to be extra cautious because we would rather be safe than sorry. We re-opened Monday January 18th. - Did SHA make us close. No. - Did we even have to close. No but yes. Technically we did not have to shut our doors but we do not have a large enough staff to have remained open. Five out of our seven front of house staff were present on Dec 31st. All five went home and isolated until Jan 14th. With only two employees unaffected we were not able to remain operational. - Did covid spread like rampant fire throughout the business. No. From both our own investigation as well as straight from the SHA inspector who came to see us, so far, they have no record that anyone caught covid or spread covid while at the Blue Rhino. - Why is Blue Rhino an outbreak location if there has been no spread. According to our SHA inspector, we were listed because of close contact in terms of tracing. - Will the Blue Rhino receive a fine. No. When the SHA inspector came to see our establishment he deemed that we are following regulations and said that there will be no fine. - Is the Blue Rhino open. YES and we look forward to serving you!
