Although we're still pretty much shut down here in town, news of a vaccine coming within the next few weeks or months is encouraging. Let's be optimistic and look forward to covering some local events in the next few months. In the meantime, stay safe, stay calm and please remember to be kind (not everyone is).
It's been far too long since I posted news of our PRCFAT but I do want to assure the community that we are still here as a team to serve our community. No one needs to say how difficult this year has been but hopefully we'll emerge from this pandemic in the coming months or, if necessary, year(s). Take care everyone - YOU are important.
The Powell River Community First Aid Team set up on the corner of Joyce and Barnet to show their appreciation of all front line workers. Thank you to everyone for the waves and smiles of support and encouragement. Special mention to the Town Centre Hotel for the use of their parking lot and to Staples for supplying the posters!
This is just a reminder that we will be parking the PRCFAT ambulance in the Town Centre Hotel parking lot tomorrow, Monday August 3, from 12:00 - 2:00. We'd love to have you stop by to say hello. Our purpose in doing this is just to remind all of us that our volunteer team is still up and waiting to help at community events, once things open up a bit more.
We want to let you know that although we have not had events to cover, we're still a viable team and we look forward to being an active part of the community once things "pick up" again. To begin with, we'll be parked at the Town Centre Hotel parking lot on Monday, BC Day from noon to 2:00 PM. We'd love to have you stop by to say hello, to chat and to let you know how we love serving our community.
July 1, 2020 has to be the strangest celebration I've ever experienced and yet, I was so proud of our citizens for observing social distancing and respecting the wishes of our mayor and city officials to avoid large crowds. Kudos to our Powell River people! I also truly enjoyed the opportunity that some of our ambulance team members took to remind our people that once events begin to take place, we're there to provide first aid coverage. We enjoyed our time at Willingdon Beach and thanks to those who stopped long enough to say "hi".
We just like to check in and let our PR and area residents know that we're staying alert and will be available to attend community events once they are permitted. Keep well, keep well-distanced from one another and thank you for the great support we've experienced over the past year and months.
Although none of us knows when we'll be attending community events again, it's good to remember that we're still a team, still committed to each other and to you. Let's continue to stay safe so that when that special day and those special events resume, we'll be ready to go!
No one needs to say that these are different times; they are in fact, different in every possible way. One way we, the members of Powell River Community First Aid Team, really feel that difference is the inability to interact with our great community. With so many events cancelled and our members' commitment to social distancing, we haven't seen each other - or you - for several months now. Hopefully that will change in the near future and, in the meantime, keep well and remember that we're just as anxious to see you as you are to see us!

With an abundance of caution we are suspending event coverage and also suspending both team and executive meetings. We will call those concerned, as required, in light of the evolving situation. Thank you for your understanding.
We had another good team meeting last evening. Please contact me if you're interested in becoming part of our Chamber of Commerce Non-profit finalist group! We're looking forward to being at a number of up-coming events in Powell River and area this spring and early summer.
If you're attending the Festival of Performing Arts this evening (Monday, Feb.24) stop by and see us. We're set up in the foyer of Brooks School and we'd love to have you drop by to say hello.
Our team will be present at the February 24 Festival of Performing Arts being held at Max Cameron Theatre (Brooks School). If you get a chance, stop by and say hello, we'd love to see you.
Like our FB page if you want to be sure to get all our updates and notices. We truly appreciate the increased and constantly increasing support for PRCFAT and we consider it an honour to be part of this team.
