With the rise in the number of students who are accessing social media apps, I would like to recommend a podcast for parents/youth (also useful for teachers/counsellors) It is done by a colleague of mine from Seattle. His name is Jo Langford. These podcasts discuss social media apps - pros and cons. This can help kids build a case as to why they want particular social media or apps. It can also arm parents with the info to say no, not yet, etc. It currently has 69 episodes. S...nap Chat, IG and Tik Tok are intended for kids ages 13+ minimum. https://podcasts.apple.com//podca/appropriate/id1456036179

Age Verification on Pornography Sites Senator Julie Miville-Dechêne has introduced Bill S-203 in the Senate Protecting Young Persons from Exposure to Pornography Act. This would require pornography websites to verify the age of their users, to ensure that children are not being exposed to pornography, which is harmful. Bill S-203 is a new private member’s bill in the Senate. It is an Act to restrict young persons’ online access to sexually explicit material. Please sign.... https://defenddignity.ca/get-involved/

We believe educating early is the key to eliminating sexual abuse. Educating early does not strip your child of their innocence... however... sexual abuse will.
