We have had an outpouring of inquiries regarding if we will be instructing during the mandatory team baseball halt - the answer is Yes. We have ramped up our private instructor hours and are committed to providing a safe, clean and healthy environment for individual athletes to further their off-season development. Please request your sessions via email. While are are doing our best to ensure all athletes receive private instructing time, we will be booking on a first inquiry... basis. We have made new facility guidelines in our daily cleaning regiments, mandatory hand hygiene, and limits to the number of persons in the facility at any one time. Hithouse instructor Brandon Washkevich and the rest of the Gryphon staff did a great job preparing the boys for the season both on the field and in the hithouse facility. Go Gryphs! @ Ajax, Ontario

Worked with long time Hithouse Athlete @lucas_wepf as he prepared himself for his junior season at D1 @ulmonroe. Last year we got Lucas up to 91-92mph on his fastball and created more depth on his curveball. This summer we worked hard with the Velo bands from @veloprobaseball to help Lucas stay back, create more power by pushing into the ground with his back foot longer and working more direct to his target. We are expecting great things for Lucas and the Warhawks in 2020. Head instructor Andrew Karkoulas who has worked with Lucas throughout his career will be heading the Pitching Pro Prep programs that begin at the Hithouse in 2 weeks. They are 80% full. Struggling to stay back on stride or behind contact? This simple drill is great to help hitters feel what it’s like to stay behind the baseball. . . Many hitters struggle with getting too far ahead or too much weight forward on stride. When this happens it is very difficult to create launch with our barrel and to turn explosively to the ball. The result is a lot of weak contacts and ground balls. .... . The dowl on the ground is a marker to remind our players to stay back when striding (feel the weight in our back hip on stride) and to stay behind the baseball when we make contact with the ball. We want our athletes to turn explosively to contact allowing the body to work as one piece in the correct sequence. By staying back we can allow this to happen more often then not. The result is harder hit balls and a better ball flight. #thebesttrainhere See more

Crossover Drill: Great drill for our pitchers that works on driving with the backside and staying closed to our target as we attack. . Our goal in this drill by crossing over is to ensure that our pitchers have their weight throughout their entire back foot. We want as a pitcher to keep our entire foot on the ground as we attack to make sure that we are using the entire surface of our foot to push off the ground for power. ... . Wiper Drill. . . Great drill for our players to create some looseness in their swing and to feel the path of the elbows and shoulders as they start to attack the baseball. ... We want to make sure we keep the front elbow driving forward, the back elbow attacking down and our shoulders creating launch. By doing so it is easier to keep the barrel tight to the body and to create a swing that works behind and through the ball. . . By clearing the front elbow it allows room for the hands to work to the ball and allows our body to rotate around the midline. #thebesttrainhere#wipeit

Launching Balls!!!! . . As a hitter the most important position we must hit during our swing is what we call LAUNCH POSITION. .... . LAUNCH POSITION occurs after a hitter has taken their load and stride towards the pitcher. In this position hitters must have the ability to keep their weight and barrel over the back leg as long as possible, while the front foot is outstretched towards the pitcher landing at a 45 degree angle to increase the rate of hip rotation. . While the lower body is moving the upper body has a job to do as well. The shoulder blade of the back arm must pinch back allowing the shoulders to rotate slightly back. This will allow the hands to fall closer to the body creating a shorter and more compact swing. . Launch position is a great drill that can be used at all age groups and skill levels with both a stationary and moving ball. Give it a try. #thebesttrainhere See more

Got a workout in with long time client/ a top pitcher in the Jayhawk conference @lucas_wepf yesterday before he heads back to Pratt College for his sophomore season. We have worked hard on staying more linear to his target, creating a shorter arm path to create more speed and velocity. 10 week Spring Training Programs. With the great success of our fall pro prep programs, @peakperformanceathletics is now offering four 10 week spring training programs. These programs will work on all skill sets to better prepare our athletes for the upcoming season. Each program has a 6 athlete max to ensure a 1:3 instructor to player ratio.
