As the weather shifts, friendly reminder to dress appropriately for all kinds of weather. We love playing outside with our friends

At Peter Pan Preschool we have incorporated lights in the program to represent Diwali and the Festival of Lights. What a perfect year to ensure that we are celebrating new beginnings and discussing how light can triumph over dark. The children really enjoyed exploring all of the different lights and seeing how their reflections & shimmers bounce off the different surfaces in our classroom. In order to really appreciate the lights we decided to turn off our fluorescent overhead lights and just use the gorgeous sunlight and beautiful coloured twinkle lights to brighten our classroom.

Last week at Peter Pan Preschool the children worked over a couple of days on some transportation activities. We offered a variety of materials for them to use with the paint (stamps, cars, circles) and we allowed the children to manipulate the materials however they wanted. Te children had fantastic discussion about how the car wheels felt and sounded on the paper it made a real vroom, how some wheels were bumpy and some wheels were straight or smooth. They discusse...d what would happen when they mixed the different colours of paint to make orange or brown or mud. On the second day of offering this activity the children decided to explore the use of the paint and the patterns that they could make with the different objects r even their hands. I always enjoy doing this activity with the kids and this year it seemed especially relevant as we spend so much time outside in the playground naming the different vehicles that pass by on our street.
