While we are experiencing technical difficulties with our website, we wanted to still get our statement to folks as soon as possible regarding PCF 2020 & COVID-19. More updates to follow as news unfolds.
As part of the 2020 Prairie Comics Festival, we are holding special events leading up to the festival, like this Indie Comics Panel with long-time partner The Millennium Library! Learn about the reason indie comics are vital to a thriving art community, what the scene is here in your own back yard, and get insight from local creators! Free to attend~
We are so pleased to reveal this year's festival poster, drawn by the incredibly talented Merissa Mayhew! Look for these around Winnipeg very soon & DM us if you'd like one! We are finalizing programming & emailing all vendors today. See you in May! Check out more of Merissa's art here: https://merissa.ca PCF type treatment drawn by S.M. Beiko
Happy Friday! Today we are getting cozy with some book mail we recently received did you know that a great way to support indie comics outside of convention season is to check crowdfunding platforms for new, limited comic projects? Share with us the comics you’ll be curled up with this weekend!
Today is the FINAL DAY to submit your vendor application for PCF 2020! When the clock strikes 12am, the date becomes January 14, which means the application will be CLOSED. We hope this is clear!! https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSeiapk74awaTua7ur/viewform
Applications to be an exhibitor at PCF 2020 are still open until January 13! Apply today for 4' or 8' space, and DID YOU KNOW that on the Friday before the Festival, we're taking all our vendors to Friesens Printing in Altona, MB for a Professional Development Day?? Apply for the fest here!: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSeiapk74awaTua7ur/viewform
While you're getting your vendor applications in for January 13, we have another special initiative for past Prairie Comics vendors! We are requesting submissions for our PCF 2020 Zine! Unlike previous years, where we wanted to make the Zine a short comic anthology, this year we've decided to just make it an art book of past and present PCF exhibitor work. Submissions are on a purely voluntary basis and all proceeds will go directly towards supporting the festival. If you hav...e any standalone art that you want to submit, send over high-res print-ready files, along with your name spelled exactly how you want it in the book, and your website/instagram/twitter/or whatever. The book will likely be standard comic size (6.70"x10.24" or there abouts) to keep in mind when selecting your pieces, however it might be possible to fit a landscape-oriented piece as a two-page spread (not sure yet). Be aware that we may need to crop images to better fit the layout. There's no guarantee that all pieces will be selected to go in the book, but we will try to accommodate as much art as possible. Original work only please, so no fan art. Let us know if you have any questions!
That's right! The deadline to apply as a vendor for PCF 2020 has been extended to January 13, since we're all still recovering from the holiday! Apply here: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSeiapk74awaTua7ur/viewform
Phew, it's taken some back & forth, but with the digital ink freshly dried on the contract, we're happy to announce the venue for Prairie Comics 2020 is....!! The West End Cultural Centre! We look forward to seeing you there May 2-3, 2020 for all your indie comic needs! Remember, you have until January 6 to apply for the convention. We will also be offering half-tables at 4' now ($22), with full tables at 8' ($44); more on that soon!... Vendor submission link: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSeiapk74awaTua7ur/viewform
