After minutes of editing and a killer soundtrack here is a Vid from my 2020 trip to Invermere , this year I flew a bit different , instead of surfing down low on the rocks I mostly searched for pockets of wave forming from the west side mountain range and stayed as high as possible .

RCAF Station Gimli, a former BCATP base, closed at wars end in 1945, reopened in 1950 as a NATO training base, and permanently closed in 1971. I was stationed i...n Gimli in the late 60s, and returned in retirement in 2011. I made a 40 years later video for friends, I post it here for anyone who may be interested. After closure, several startup companies arrived, only to leave, or shut down when government subsidies ran out. Today, the former station is the Gimli Industrial Park, with 1 active runway. It’s also the summer home of the Manitoba water bomber fleet, and the Air Cadet gliding school. Gimli made the news in 1983, when Air Canada Flight 143, today called the Gimli Glider, made an unscheduled landing after running out of fuel at 41,000 feet over Red Lake Ontario, half way to its scheduled destination of Edmonton, from Montreal. The Gimli Glider Exhibit in downtown Gimli remembers that event. Gimliglider.org

Six years ago today, Corporal Nathan Cirillo was killed while on sentry duty at the National War Memorial in Ottawa, Ontario. Two days earlier, Warrant Officer ...Patrice Vincent was killed in a separate attack in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. Today, we pay tribute to them and their service to our country. Our hearts are with their family, friends and colleagues.

Some segment of movie film I took whilst flying with a Spitfire over Kent and Sussex. Charlie Brown was not happy when they decided to give it a go, after it ra...ined hard all day until around 4 pm when flying commenced. The weather was marginal, as you can see with all the clouds in layers, some lower than us at 2100 feet or so. It was going dark, being the last day of October, in winter time and the sun set soon. He flew 3 flights and then had to fly back to Pent Farm or somewhere, in the gloom. I saw him talking with reception and went up to shake his hand whilst he was talking with them about this, which shook him a bit! Later he chatted away to me as I sat up front flying for a bit as well as having the only other headset microphone besides the captain of the Piper Chieftain Navajo we flew in. Paul Davies See more

Yah know .. these days most of us learn on pavement .. and are based on pavement. So I am writing this for newbs and not so newbs with limited grass experience.... When that grass field is wet because of rain or heavy dew .. think braking/traction coefficient of eel snot. Until you've built up some experience, double your landing distance and do NOT land hot. Posted for a friend who destroyed his pretty CE-120. See more

CC-115 Buffalo 457 arrived at the Heritage Air Park the other day. This donation helps to preserve the RCAF’s, and Canada’s, rich aviation history. The Buffalo ...fleet remains in operation with the RCAF, supporting search and rescue missions throughout the Pacific region as the RCAF crews continue training on the newly arrived CC-295 Kingfisher which will eventually replace the CC-115. Lovely shot of Spartan Air Services Mosquito in need of some maintenance. Location is likely Pelly Lake, Nunavut, Canada, circa 1958. How hard could it be to ...do an engine change up there? Its only 744 km northwest of Yellowknife, NWT and 1780 km north of Winnipeg, Manitoba, pretty much right on the Arctic Circle. See more
