{Earth Day} Earth Day always makes me reflect on how over the past year I’ve changed my ways personally and as a business to make things better for Mother Earth . We need to remember that the smallest changes we make can make a large impact over time, and an even larger change happens when multiple people do the same thing. Some of the things as a business and personally that we have adopted since last Earth Day: Lowering the amount of packaging on your products. Where a pl...astic sleeve is required, it has now been changed to a compostable plant-based product . Fabric is cut in a way that leaves very few scraps. When scraps are inevitable, they are kept for smaller projects until they are no longer useable, and if there are remaining scraps that I have no use for, they get donated to other places to get put to use such as schools, sewing clubs, etc. On a personal level we do our grocery shopping (including produce items) with reusable bags from @the.better.farm.co. We recycle as many items at home as we can. We are cognizant about purchasing items that are packaged in hard-to-recycle vessels and try to grab items in earth friendly packaging instead. Meal planning using items at home already as a base for our meals for the week. It leads to less food waste overall as most of it gets used before the next grocery run. Check out @funcheaporfree for more tips on this! Shopping slow-fashion, sustainably, and/or second hand. Some of my favourite ships for this are @buttercreamclothing, @peanutansbumble, @tinytims, and @onceuponachildsaskatooneast. Using silicone straws and reusable water bottles & coffee cups and 90% of the time make or take our own from home. I’m curious what you’ve changed over the past year and what you are planning to do moving forward to help sustain our beautiful planet? Small changes are really easy to do and help so much over the long run! @Darcie Dale

Question, as I prepare for the spring launch as well as the in-person stores, what are you thinking about these Liverpool bows that are available on a nylon headband or clip? They are smaller and more delicate than a headwrap, and in my biased opinion, I think they are super versatile and simple. Currently they are only stocked at @joynemarketplace and not on the website. With that being said, I only want to make what you like and want to see, so the big question is do I continue to offer these in other colours and add to the website! Please help a mama out and comment below your thoughts!

SPRING LAUNCH... Many of you are asking when new product will be coming to the website. Behind the scenes I’m getting ready to stock two stores for May opening, @prairie.and.pine and @oldfarmhouse as well as catching up on low stock at @joynemarketplace so the website launch will be coming soon! I know it’s been awhile since I’ve had a website launch but I promise so many new goodies will be loaded. I’m hoping for early May. I have to say that with the nice weather it’s bee...n impossible to keep the kids inside the house (and we all know what cooped up kids are like ) so my available time to work on new stock in my basement shop has been limited. With the way this year has been, being outside is super welcome so we enjoy all those moments that we can, and I hope you are too! Just wanted to update that there is a nice launch coming but just have to finish up stocking the stores and the website will be next. Have a wonderful Friday!!

... I am not feeling the Christmas spirit as much as I normally do at this time of the year, and Christmas is my favourite! Is anyone with me? I mean, the tree is up, most of the gifts are bought, cards are mailed....but this year it’s just the normal joy, happiness, excitement in the air that’s missing and I’m really feeling that. Don’t get me wrong, there are so many blessings around, but there’s no denying that I’m still feeling so guilty. Nothing is ba...ked. I’m lacking excitement. No crafts are done. I’m sad about not being able to gather like usual. I guess if you’re feeling the same way too it’s probably just another . I think the biggest thing to enjoy the season is to . It’s a different year and it’s ok to feel the feels. It’s ok to make new traditions and skip old ones. It’s ok to have a smaller celebration. I think we need to give ourselves permission to let ourselves just do what it takes to . One thing we are going to change is our normal Christmas Eve mass and come home and do gifts, I think because we won’t be able to do mass and our normal get together on the 24th, we will try giving a Christmas Eve box to the kids with new PJs, hot chocolate, popcorn, etc., and cuddle in to enjoy a Christmas movie and do gifts in the morning instead. Who’s with me? What are your thoughts? ? Are you going to start a new tradition or enjoy something new that you’ve always wanted to try? I’m curious what others are keeping the same or changing this year. See more

Saturday used to be for sleeping in, but then I had kids...... . . If I’m being honest though, the lazy days were Sunday mornings. As a hairstylist and esthetician in my past career, Saturday mornings were actually meant for an even earlier start at 8am to get all the wedding parties and fancy hairstyles done for all the Saturday fun! .... . In all seriousness though does anyone else long for one of those lazy Saturday/Sunday mornings where you wake up when you want, have breakfast, and crawl back into bed for another 3 hours? Me too...RIP lazy mornings for another 18 years . See more

Pumpkin Spice vibes! The time has come...headwraps will be coming to the website this week . Who is excited?! Any preference on what day works for the launch? While I have your attention, I also wanted to add a bit of an update on shipping changes here...headwraps are launching slightly later than planned because of shipping issues. In order to make shipping more reasonable I had to figure out a solution because a regular lettermail envelope would not work because of the... bulkiness of the bow. Bulkier items generally are required to ship as a parcel at a rate of around $15 if the envelope does not fit through the Canada Post’s 2cm Slot of Doom and that is not ok....so enter @theslotboxcanada!! The slot boxes should be here today and what they are is a small box that allows shipping bulkier items that still fit within Canada Post’s lettermail regulations. With that being said, shipping is going to change on the website to a flat rate method. You will see a slight rise in shipping costs to accommodate the flat rate method, but with headwraps being a bulkier item, there is then no limit on what can fit in a shipping box and you will never pay $15 to ship an item that costs less than that! If I can get your order to fit lettermail it will always ship that way, and if it is a larger order requiring a larger box and it has to ship as a parcel at a higher cost, then I will take care of the difference. I think it should be a win/win solution! Now that the technical stuff is done, what day do you want these to launch?! Let me know in the comments!

Real queens are the ones who fix each other’s crowns.-Unknown . . In a time such as this, let’s all take the time to build each other up instead of tear people down. Stress and uncertainty is rampant and kindness will always go a long way. Some social media has become such a toxic place nowadays and it feels to me like instead of coming together in these uncertain times that this pandemic is just breaking people apart. The fights and negativity and name calling and bashing... all needs to stop. I’m posting for anyone that needs a reminder to BE KIND and not because it happened to me or anyone I know, but just because. Let’s build each other up. Let’s stop the negativity and think positively. There is always something to be happy about! . . My happy is a hot cup of coffee with Pumpkin Spice creamer, hubby is home from work for two weeks, and we are supposed to have some sunshine and a nice, hot day today! What is your happy? See more

It’s definitely feeling more like autumn out there lately. It’s crazy that here in Saskatchewan this past weekend it was +30C and we were at the spray park, and the very next day we were at the playground bundled up in hoodies (or bunny hugs as we call it here in SK ) and mittens as it was only +12 but with some super chilly winds that were making us so cold. As much as I love the turn of the seasons from summer to fall, this year it comes with a little bit of sadness with b...ack to school anxiety with Covid over our heads. I’m excited to get back into normal routine but I do have some anxiety about what every sniffly nose, cough, sneeze, etc is going to bring this fall and winter. Anyone else? . . On a side note and a more positive one at that, I have *finally* become happy with headwrap sizing after lots of trial and changes and feedback from my rep family. I am also to say super excited to announce that I am now a vendor at @joynemarketplace and fall headwrap colours are now available there immediately. The headwraps are available in four sizes; 0-6m, 6-12m, 1-3 years, & 3-10 years and are $15 tax included. Head on over there if you need them for fall photos or to complement those back-to-school outfits! See more

Enjoy the little things. . . That’s what this summer is all about. There’s no big summer holiday, nothing super exciting to look forward to....but....that doesn’t say that summer holidays can’t be amazing! We are hanging out in #yxe enjoying all the spray parks, playgrounds, time in our backyard, and time with family in our extended household. The calm, easy going summer is exactly what we needed to enjoy the little things and smell the roses. Agree?

Prairie Princess Bowtique 03.07.2020

Today is going to be a sizzler! It will be perfect for sprinklers, spray parks, and sun! . . How are you spending this scorcher today?

Donut Stop Believin’ . . @kaysensquest has just THREE days left to get a life saving drug for his SMA. Over 37 million people live in Canada and he is needing just over 2 million dollars for his medication. I challenge all Canadians to give up your morning coffee from your local coffee chain for the next two days and donate that coffee money to @kaysensquest Go Fund Me instead. If just a small portion of Canadians did this, he would have his life-saving medication! Do you ...accept my challenge? . . Don’t forget that for the rest of the day, 75% of my sales on my website will also go to Kaysen, so if you need any pretties for your little one, you’re supporting a good cause. I will also be adding a personal donation as well. See more
