Despite physiotherapy being approved to reopen on May 4th with phase 1 of Sask's reopening plan, I will not be opening my doors quite yet! I will continue with virtual appointments over the next couple weeks only. Thank you for your understanding!

I am now offering virtual Physiotherapy! How can this work you ask? I have no idea as this is new to me too . A lot of what I do is hands on work, but I may be able to help you by: 1. Thorough discussion on what is going on - a lot can be determined about your condition just by asking you certain questions. 2. If I can see you, I can see how your moving, what your flexibility is like, where your problem areas may be, and also if there are any potential areas of weakness th...at need strengthening. A lot of my job involves my eyes! 3. I can educate you on things you can do at home that may help with your condition. 4. I can demonstrate exercises to you and have you try to replicate them at home. I usually focus on home based programs anyways, so this is not a huge change for me! I will have new rates for the virtual services. Please contact me on here or by phone at 306-604-5165 if you would like to try this out with me. Our world may be a bit crazy right now, but it also may be a good time to focus on taking care of yourself amongst the chaos! Have a great weekend everyone, maybe I will see some of your lovely faces on my computer screen soon

Prairieside will temporarily be closing it's doors. I am considering trying out telehealth options if there is enough interest! Please comment here or send a PM if accessing physiotherapy via telehealth interests you! Also, I am going to try to commit to doing more posts while most of us are at home and have more free time. If there is anything in particular anyone would like me to post about ie: certain injuries or conditions please let me know and I will see what I can do...!!! Stay healthy and safe everyone!

Do you tend to hibernate in the winter like this bear? You are not alone, a large percentage of Canadians are less active in the Winter compared to other seasons! Spring is approaching though (hopefully soon what did the groundhog say this year??) and I tend to get a lot of clients that come in with injuries related to gardening and other spring-related activities (hello Spring cleaning time to throw out all the junk I have accumulated!!) ... If we are inactive through most of the Winter, our muscles become weaker and deconditioned and we can also lose mobility in our joints and muscles. Finding strategies to become more active all Winter long is ideal, but just because you haven’t done much all Winter, and Spring might be coming soon, doesn’t mean it’s too late! You can start increasing your activity level now to start preparing your body for a busier time of year and increased workload on your body! Even a month or two can potentially make a big difference for getting your body prepped and preventing injuries. Things you can do now to increase your activity level are: - Just get up and move! - Go for a walk - Go play with your dog who maybe hasn’t been getting as much exercise either this Winter - Take your kids or grandkids out for a walk and play with them on playground equipment - Start doing yoga (there are many yoga resources out there and all levels of difficulty) - Start up a light resistance training program, again there are so many resources out there. NO CLUE WHERE TO START??? Did you know that I can help you with a custom exercise program? You don’t have to have an injury or be in pain to see me for this. It can be for anyone! If you have injured yourself in the past and are not sure what to do for exercise safely, even more reason to see a Physiotherapist to help you with this. I will do a movement assessment for you to help determine areas of inflexibility, weakness, and keeping your fitness goals in mind I can design an exercise program just for you! I design exercises so that you can do them based on what you have access to, and what your preference is. Have access to a gym? Great. Have home equipment? Perfect. Don’t have any exercise equipment at all ? Not a problem! We can still do plenty of exercises using your body weight or household objects as resistance and I also have exercise bands I can give you to use as well. Hope everyone is having a fantastic Sunday. Now, get off your phone or computer and start moving! (that goes for me too)
