The immune system is extremely powerful in its ability to protect by rejecting that which is harmful to us, but it is also subject to brain dominance via the nervous system. It is therefore directly affected by psychological stress. When we suffer severe stress of any kind, then the hormones released by the adrenal glands will disrupt the brain-immune system, leaving us vulnerable to illness and disease. Stress is not the only factor that can trigger this response. Emotions can be big and scary for kids. Kids have stress too and sometimes they don’t know how to express it or express it in ways we feel are inappropriate. I have found often with working with my own kids and other people’s kids in sessions that they are expressing the stress and the emotions of the family. The feelings that the adults are coping with. Bodytalk is a safe and effective way to help kids with their emotions. Sessions can be done by distance and recorded for the child to listen to or in person.
