We’re back! Distanced, masked, in smaller groups, and outdoors, but we are back. Choir looks different this year, but we are so so happy to be singing together safely. Huge shoutouts to our hosts for opening weekend - Ed and Millie Hildebrand hosting Horizon in their gorgeous backyard; the folks at @rwballet hosting Bluestem in the parade, and @theforkswinnipeg hosting Prairie Voices at the CN Stage. Can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings! #socialdistanceSing #choir #manitobasings
Bluestem was featured on The Choir Project today! Thank you for sharing and to our singer/emerging conductor Shaundale Santos!
Can’t wait for this. Bring on September! #bridgechoralcollective

Wondering what it's like to sing in Prairie Voices? Let us answer your questions! This video (credit to Kenji Dyck) features Q&A's by our Prairie Voices choristers. More questions? Comment below! Though this video is specific to PV, most of this applies to ALL of our choirs (Bluestem, Horizon, Prairie Voices): the variety of music, the excellent directors, and the real sense of community. We hope you consider joining us next season! Check out our audition info here: https://www.prairievoices.ca/auditions
We stand with you. Please consider supporting these organizations: Bear Clan Patrol Inc (Winnipeg) Sunshine House (Winnipeg)... Black Table Arts (Minneapolis) #theshowmustbepaused #blacklivesmatter
Together, we can make beautiful things. Members of Horizon come together to virtually perform Rheinberger's "Abendlied." Bide with us, for the evening shadows darken, and the day will soon be over. ... #PVIinchoirantine #socialdistanSING https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GY5HQGMrQ94
Today's the day Prairie Voices was to have performed at Podium, in concert with Canadian Men's Chorus. Instead we share this opening set piece with all of you! God’s Great Dust Storm was the opener of our Podium set called Earth Call: Courage Over Comfort. The set contained different stories of humanity coming together and harnessing the power of the collective to achieve insurmountable things. God’s Great Dust Storm, by Katzenjammer and arranged by Henrik Dahlgren, was a retrospective look at what was to come had we not acted on climate change. Inspired by the global youth climate leaders who have led the call for action, we wanted to echo their message in our set. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQoNhoNfu5Q
This tidbit of Allemande (performed by some of our amazing Horizon choristers, with a cameo from their fearless leader Johanna Hildebrand!) is from a larger work by Caroline Shaw. Horizon fell in love with this unique piece and were planning on performing it at our 20th anniversary concert. We look forward to performing it again for you live, one day. Check out Roomful of Teeth for the full length version!
This week Prairie Voices would have been off to Montreal to perform at Podium 2020. While that clearly isn't happening as planned, we still look forward to singing together with choirs from across Canada one day!! This is The Frost by Kathleen Allan, performed during PV's most recent tour to International Choral Kathaumixw, Powell River, BC, 2018.
