I had the opportunity to try out a wonderful restaurant in Prince Albert tonight called The Tartan Table. First, blown away by the atmosphere. Old charm. Exposed brick walls. Classy yet comfortable furnishings. Beautiful bar. And the little stage - I'd love to see a performance there some night. Then the food! Anyone who knows me knows I love steak, but having been a cook in another life, I am a tad picky. I had the baseball steak and it was one of the best steaks I have ha...d in many years. Better than Montana's. Better than The Keg. The garlic mashed potatoes were full of flavor. The peppercorn gravy was just right (and they were not stingy with it) and the veggies were steamed perfectly (I really hate over cooked veggies). My dining partner had the special. I can't remember what it was called but it was chicken stuffed with breading and cranberries and he said it was very good as well. Side mention: coffee made fresh just for me was amazing. I rarely rave about coffee but this was good coffee! A glimpse into my office space. It's not perfect and there's usually a couple water bottles sitting around and maybe a snack plate. But this is where I am productive. This is where I can spend my entire day and be happy.
