In all schools, grades 7-12 will move to at-home learning on November 30. Grades K-6 will continue in-person classes until December 18. This includes in-person learning for Early Childhood Services. After the winter break, all students will move to at-home learning.... In-person classes will resume for all students on January 11, 2021. These measures are mandatory. Diploma exams are optional for the rest of the school year. Students and their families can choose to write the exam or receive an exemption for the April, June, and August 2021 exam sessions.
This summer I received many calls from my constituents enquiring about the traffic issues in the construction zone of the Trans-Canada Highway and the Stoney Trail Ring Road near to my riding. Representing my colleague Ric McIver, last week I toured the West Calgary Ring Road construction along with the Project Director of AB Transportation. Contractor's team (EllisDon Corporation) told me the final 9 km leg of Calgary's Ring Road, Highway 201, from Highway 8, including 20 new bridges is progressing very well. They will ensure that there will be smooth traffic flow in the future on Highway 1 (east & west bound) and aim to complete the work on Highway 1 first. Some of the heavy equipment on site reminded me of my days working on oil sands mine projects.
Ladies and gentlemen, the current situation in Alberta is critical! If we do not slow the COVID related sharp rise in both hospitalizations and ICU admissions, it will threaten our ability to deliver health services that Albertans rely on. We must do everything we can to prevent the cancellation of surgeries, or delays to other medial procedures. These mandatory measures will replace new restrictions on social gatherings, worship services, businesses, schools and all Albe...rtans. These steps are not being taken lightly, but are needed to protect us all. Not following mandatory restrictions could result in fines of up to $1,000 per ticketed offence, and up to $100,000 through the courts. My colleague, the Associate Minister for Red Tape Reduction, Grant Hunter, MLA for Taber-Warner, has tabled the 1st ever red tape reduction annual report in Alberta. We saved Albertans nearly half a billion dollars by cutting red tape in year one. We are on track to reaching our goal to cut red tape by one third. ... you can read the report here: https://www.alberta.ca/cut-red-tape.aspx
