Bishop John Hurst Adams The Allen University family expresses its sincere condolences regarding the passing of Bishop John Hurst Adams on January 10th. Bishop... Adams was recognized for his lifetime commitment to the intellectual improvement of the AME Church, his articulate assessment of race problems, and his passionate belief in the potential good of everyone. Born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1927, he was educated during segregation at Booker T. Washington High School, and earned an A.B. degree in history from Johnson C. Smith University. He continued his studies at Boston University School of Theology where he earned Bachelor and Master degrees in Theology, and befriended Martin Luther King, Jr. who was also a student at the time. Bishop Adams was known as a fiery pastoral leader, who spoke bluntly about social conditions across the country including in Seattle (WA), Los Angeles (CA), and Waco (TX) before returning to South Carolina in 1992, where he became Bishop of the 7th Episcopal District, and led the fight that resulted in the first successful removal of the Confederate flag from the SC State House. Bishop Adams was a natural manifestation of Allen’s motto, where minds are taught to think, hands are taught to work, and hearts are taught to love. In 1999, a gymnatorium complex on Allen’s campus was constructed in his honor. Allen is proud to call John Hurst Adams one of its own. His light shined brightest during the years he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Bishop (1992-2000), and it hasn’t dimmed since.
The person that rejects Christ's offer of salvation will ultimately end up a stunted human soul.
BEWARE OF FALSE TEACHINGS "If He puts no trust in His servants, If He charges His angels with error, 19 How much more those who dwell in houses of clay,"... The Lord rejection Eliphaz's doctrine.
The experience of life can be of torment or a of triumph. It all depends on what occupies the inside- demonic fears or the Holy Spirit.
