Happy Sunday! We just want to take a moment to thank all our clients and supporters that make Precision Ink as successful as it is, especially during one of the most difficult and trying times our world has experienced. We are temporarily closing our books for a couple months - Reopen goal date is April 2021. We’re going to be spending this time rebuilding Precision Ink and updating pretty much everything. This lip neutralization transformation is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! I’m so proud of this, working on melanin rich/dark lips is HARD and can be super risky. Also hyper and hypopigmentation can occur - this is when the lips turn black and patchy due to trauma and extra melanin being produced during the healing phase. The artist must be extra delicate when working on these lips and have a very good knowledge on colour theory, so to choose the correct colours to use to properly lighten up the lips. Well, this client will be ready for her target colour. I’m super excited to see that!

Tammy was our Lip blush contest winner, look at beautiful her lips are!! We were able to give her some colour, even out the colour on her hyperpigmented lower bottom lip and gave her a more pronounced Cupid’s bow. It was a pleasure working with/on you Tammy! 3 sessions later and my clients lip blush journey is complete!! And WOW! do her lips look beautiful! My client didn’t have natural hyperpigmentation, but she did have nicotine stains from past smoking. We corrected this by neutralizing her lips over 2 sessions. Her lips healed a beautiful nude peach colour so it was time to add her desired colour. Check out her lip journey, what a beautiful transformation!

Sunday is a good day for some SMP

An FYI on melanin rich lips, aka hyper pigmented lips, aka dark lips... Most ethic lips will be rich in melanin, which means they have extra pigment (melanin) that give their lips that dark tone. When working on dark lips, cool colours should be avoided like the plague!!! Melanin lips need to be neutralized over multiple sessions, each session should have a healing time of 8-10 weeks. It’s absolutely common for some dark lips to experience even more hyperpigmentation during ...the healing period, this is the dark patchiness that appears on the lips and it’s typically darker in appearance than the original tone of the lips. Do not worry if this happens, hyperpigmentation WILL subside and blend out. As long as proper and gentle technique is used. Hyperpigmentation is the stage at which melanin rich lips are healing. The onset of hyperpigmentation is a reaction to trauma. When working on melanin rich lips, your tech should be very aware of her pressure, stretch of the lips and not to overly wipe, as all of this can cause more trauma to the lips. ONLY ORANGE OR YELLOW should be used on dark lips as a neutralizer! Neutralizer should ALWAYS be the first session. As you can see in my clients example picture, her original lip tone is quite dark, after her first session her lips began to hyperpigment, leaving her lips dark and patchy. After the 8 week mark, going into her 10th week, her hyperpigmentation settles and the colour of the neutralizer shows up lightening her lips a shade or two lighter and she comes in for her 2nd neutralizing session. She will likely go through a similar healing experience and after 8-10 weeks she will come back, I will assess the lip tone and decide if it’s time for colour. Never allow your tech to put a cool colour on your dark lips! The results will be less than pretty. Hope this helps

Not only do I perform select cosmetic tattoo procedures, I’m also a family & cultural connections worker for an aboriginal child and family service agency. This means I re-connect children in care to their biological families and to their culture. I’ve worked in the field of social work for 14 years, but 3 years ago I was introduced to scalp MicroPigmentation. I instant...ly knew I wanted to train as a scalp MicroPigmentation technician because helping people, no matter what it’s is, is something I’m super passionate about. I decided to do some research, became trained and that’s when Precision Ink was born. Since then I’ve been fortunate to add to my training by some of the top SMP technicians. Since then I’ve continued training in other cosmetic tattoo services and currently watching my small business grow. When I’m not working hard 7 days a week, I’m busy being a mother, a partner, an Aunty and a great friend. I could complain about how busy I am and how little time I have, but I won’t because I believe I’m extremely blessed to wear all the different hats that I have.
